Barry
Leave? I mean, I know it's for Iris and Wally's safety, but my home is here, with the team, and Iris, and Joe... Joe!"Joe!" I yelled. Iris pulled away from me, realization written over her features. "He'll have to get a new job, and leave his girlfriend..."
"Wait," she interrupted. "Who says he's coming with us?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"But I thought... you know... the team... we stay together."
"No! This whole thing with the gods... it's dangerous not even the Green Arrow," she gestured to Oliver, "Or the White Canary," Iris glanced to Sara, "can help us. Not even the Flash can. I'm sorry, Barry."
"Iris, what're you..." I trailed off, unable to speak.
"I love you." She rested her lips upon mine, they were soft, gentle. "But we need to break up." My love, my best friend, my partner pulled away, leaving behind a teasing echo of her figure.
"Come on, Wally." She piggybacked him, and, before I could react, they sped away in a wave of light.
The whole team seemed in shock, and I was unable to hold the world on my shoulders without her there to strengthen me. I fell to my knees, the thud blooming from the floor to my ears.
"Barry..." Caitlin sat with me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. "She'll be back," she whispered, although the words reached everyone in the room.
"No," I responded. "She won't."
