Night, lights, quiet, lake, sidewalk.
The park is empty tonight. Not a single soul. The lake...its perfectly still. Nothing but the quiet hum of the night to fill my thoughts. I'm sitting close to the water, staring into its dark depths.
"...," What was that?
"...an," That sounds like... I turned around and saw Maddy running towards me.
"Sebastian!" She's panting heavily.
"Yeah," I reply lamely, feeling rather dead inside.
She rams me and we fall into the grass. She gives me a quick kiss on the cheek while trying to regain her breath. I just lie there, emotionless.
"Love?"
"...do you even love me," my voice barely more than a whisper.
"Of course I love you!"
"Why." Kill her
"Because you're an amazing person and the love of my life." Liar
"I'm a broken tool, no one can love me." You can't do anything
"No you're not! You're perfect!" You'll never be good enough
"I'm just a useless piece of shit," I say, slowly getting up.
"Love?"
"Stop calling me that. You don't love me." Go on, DO IT
She's silent. I can tell she's trying not to cry. A pang of guilt hits deep in my heart.
"Don't you get it? I'm a broken THING," I'm walking towards the water, "I have no purpose in this life. I'm a waste of effort, skin, space, and love." By this point I can see the tears falling down her face. "I'm sorry I wasn't perfect," Now I'm standing on the edge of the bridge.
Do it, do it, go on, you're useless, worthelssloserididotnoloveyoudontdeservetolivepainsufferingagonydiediediedieyoullneverbelovedyouruselessyoudontdeservetodoanythingyourfaultyoucouldhavedontbetteryoureaterribleperson
And then...everything went silent, even the voices. I looked Maddy in the eyes.
"I'm sorry," and I fell backwards. The coldness of the lake holding me in its grasp. It was...peaceful. I had no worries, no cares. Everything was fading. Black. Slowly going out. A figure came into view, and I faded away into nothingness.
