...? What the hell? Where am I?
I didn't move, but my view suddenly shifted and I saw a bizarre conjunction of light and darkness, with a gray area in the middle. On each side was a single...thing. They seemed like doors that I could open. In the gray area was a single string. Suddenly, I heard a loud voice.
Open a door and choose your future.
"Who are you," I demanded. "Where am I?"
You are in the realm of Limbo, the area between life and death. Choose.
I walked towards the gray area first to see what exactly that string was.
That is your life. If you wish to have never existed, you may pull the string and cease to exist. No one will remember you, you will not have a name, you won't even be a concept.
That sounds nice...but I should check the doors to be safe.
I walked to the door covered in darkness first. It was almost as if it was oozing the darkest black imaginable. I opened it and saw Maddy floating face up in the lake. I almost threw up.
Sebastian Rodriguez died by drowning on January twenty-fifth. His girlfriend, Maddy Garcia, couldn't save him. She committed suicide a month after her loss. She left only a note saying "I'm going to be with my love." She died by drowning.
Horrified, I immediately closed the door and went to the other door, the one in the light. It felt...warm, loving, like it really cared about what happened to me. I opened it and saw Maddy kissing my lips, trying to preform CPR on my motionless body, crying and screaming.
Maddy Garcia successfully pulled Sebastian Rodriguez out of the lake and is trying to revive him. Whether he shall leave is unclear. His life is in your hands.
I broke down crying. She does love me. She does. Why would I do this to her? I need to be with her. She deserves to be happy. I can't leave her.
Choose.
I looked at the door one last time, and walked into it. Suddenly everything went black and I was falling.
