Hi :D

Sorry for not updating for so long. My excuse for this one was I had a cold :P The title of this chapter refers to the gift Rose's mom was talking about giving Rose in the earlier chapter. Once again, sorry for not updating this story for so long D: I DO NOT OWN THE COVER, IT BELONGS TO ITS RESPECTIVE USER!!!

I was completely out of breath by the time I reached my ex-house. My Mom was loading the car and she was wearing the appropriate summer day's outfit. Pink tank top, and extremely short shorts. Her pink flip-flops were incasing her petite feet.

While me, on the other hand, was wearing the clothing that would be a sad excuse of fashion.

Mom smiled her one-hundred watt smile and threw me something shaped into ball. Clothes. "Now that we are about to run away from the council, we can wear normal clothes." My Mom explained. Well that was a relief.

I went into the house and went to my bedroom to change clothes. Unfolding them, I glanced at them briefly. I liked the tank top, which was white with a yellow sun set in the middle of it, but I loathed the shorts, which were extremely short. So, as you can see, I feel very uncomfortable when I'm wearing revealing clothing. Putting the soft cotton fabric on, I strapped on my white sandals, and just like that. I was ready to go.

Putting on my halo necklace that I never wear in public, but today was an exception. Since we were moving to Florida away from dreary Illinois, for once in my life, I could start out fresh. Since the council never looked in Florida for unknown super naturals (apparently there was a law that forbid all the super naturals except werewolves there). I could be myself.

Hopping out of my bedroom, my smile transformed into a frown as I stared at the familiarity of the walls. The house I had once lived in for three years was about to be the past in a few minutes. All the memories that had started in this house. Was just going to be just that. A memory. A thing of the past. My only reminder that I had once been here. Walking, on this ground.

I did my final glance at the living room and then I walked out of the house, not looking back. I guess sometimes when heading toward a new world, its best to not bring old sediments into it.

My mom walked up to me, this time not smiling. Oh boy, I hope there's not another problem. She smiles sadly at me and hands me sunglasses with white rims and black lenses. "You need to wear glasses to hide your eye color Rose." Her soft voice reminded me that not everything can be perfect. If only it could. The world would be a much better place if it did.

I put my hair into a loose pony tail and put on my new sunglasses. I knew I just looked like a beautiful human with my sunglasses on. Thankfully.

As you can tell, I never was a very talkative person. I believe in the power of words, but I also believe not to waste that power. My mom sometimes called me "Cal" cause I was like Calvin Coolidge, the thirtieth president of the United States. Fore he was very silent too, and he never wasted words.

My mom and I hopped in the car and started it. Not looking back. Well at least my mom didn't, I stared at the house. I was thankful we didn't stay any longer then we did. We saw a black limo park in the garage and stop.

The council.

We had barely escaped. Already, my mom and I were survivors. Her being only thirty-five, and me being only seventeen. Now that takes guts.

Instead of going on the interstate we were going on the edge of town. "Mom, where are we going?"

"Somewhere." Well, that certainly explained things a whole lot.

She then parked at the old general store that was preserved for tourist to gawk about it. I was only impressed with the toffee maker.

She grinned at me, her eyes twinkling with something I never really could describe. "Be right back." And then the door slipped silently shut. Leaving me to sort out what was even happening in the first place.

As usual, when I was alone, my thoughts turned a bit weird. My first thought was about how mom even turned into an angel hybrid in the first place. I mean, her parents were vampire and the nearly extinct fairy. Vampires, known for their source of drinking blood and their looks. Black hair, and either black or red eyes. Some of the more rare cases are gray.

Fairies were known for their queer wings. Some of them were sparkly, some of them not. Some of them metallic, some of them not. It was like the colors of the werewolves' wolf, all of them unique and original.

Their hair, the most common color being red, a few cases were brown. Their rare hair color being auburn. Their eyes were mainly green and blue, some of them even turquoise. The council never really did encourage strange, queer hybrids.

And then my mom pops out of nowhere, being angel.

We were basically our own species, my mom and I. The only ones of our kind. If discovered, we would most likely be executed for just having wings. I had always been disgusted for the council murdering innocent people just for having wings. To them, fairies and the angels they never even heard of were disposable, shameful. We were a mistake. A wrinkle in a shiny blouse. Unwanted. All of these words fit.

My mom had inherited the vampire's devilish-like mischievousness, but she inherited the fairy's wings. At the same time though, she made a few different genes all her own. Making a new unknown species.

Me, on the other hand, got the innocence humans associated our kind with in the myths. Too bad I didn't get the serenity though.

A knock interrupted through my thoughts as I looked through the window. Mom, was smiling at me, holding a furry fur ball. Looking very much like a fluffy marshmallow, may I might add.

It was a kitten.

Ya, me being the cat lady of the bunch, I had to give Rose a cat :p
