Dylans POV
"You can trust me" I found my self saying. Audrey looked up and brushed her hair out of her eyes. "Okay" she says quietly and I lean back onto her bed ready for her to start explaining.
"When my dad got the news my mom had died he went all crazy and started drinking to hide his pain. He started to punch and kick me..." she says and gulps. "You don't have to--" I start but she cuts me off. "I need to get this off my chest"
"Anyways, he started to abuse me. That day you came over by climbing through my window and knocking my picture over, he was drunk" she says.
"He did seem a little off that day" I say and she nods
"Remember when he barged in and yelled at you to leave?" She asks and I nod. I remember that clearly. I remember seeing him stagger in and staring into his bloodshot eyes which scared the hell out of me.
"Well when you left he picked up the photo and yelled at me for keeping it, then told me shes gone and all this other shit that made me really mad. He ripped it up and when I was trying to call someone for help he grabbed my phone and threw it at the wall which shattered" she says and I just sat their like a complete idiot, doing absolutely nothing to comfort this beautiful girl in front of me who looked like she was on the verge of crying
"That's why I couldn't call or text you" she says
"You can still see the dent" she says pointing at the wall behind me and I flip around to see a dent the size of a balled up fist. "After hurting me, he went downstairs and a couple minutes later he came back up and told me that we were leaving and not coming back..." she pauses and sighs.
"I was really confused but I packed up what i could fit into my suitcase and half an hour later we were on the road going to Maryland which took three days. But I remember seeing you staring at me through the window and I thought about one thing and one thing only..." she stopped
I sat up and she immediately leaned on my shoulder. I kind of awkwardly put my arm around her waist and pulled her closer to me.
"I thought about how much I loved you and never--got to tell--you" she stutters and I held my breath for a moment just so I could hear her heavy breathing
"I wanted to call you badly and I tried but I always got caught by my dad who beat the sense out of me. Finally we got help from a girl named Anna who was only 19 and she helped my dad get back onto his feet. He stopped abusing me and got a decent paying job. I finally got a phone again but I was scared of calling you and Faith. I was scared you would be mad at me for not calling. I figured since I was sure I wasnt coming back that I just--wouldn't call you or talk to you" she says and I scratch my head. "I knew I was wrong" she whispers
"I got to go to a new school. I met another version of Ariana and met my two new best friends..." she says sitting back up removing her head from my shoulder. I clenched my jaw as she continued talking
"Jason and Jessica" she says and my eyes widened. "The ones downstairs?" I ask and she nodded. "Jason became my boyfriend and three years later here I am back in my home town getting ready to deal with all the changes" She finished and we sat on her bed in silence for a whole five minutes.
"Jason and I are broken up though" she says and I turn my attention all on her. "I'm sorry I don't know why I just said that" she says and I laugh quietly trying to lift the mood. "By any chance... Is it true?" I ask and she turns to look at me. Her tear stains and messy hair made her look like a mess but I still loved it.
She finally nods and I smiled. "Well then maybe that happened for the best" I smiled and I quickly pressed my lips onto hers. She responded quickly and our lips moved in sync for about thirty seconds until she pulled away.
