All they had in their bags all together was some remaining Twinkies, a few dollars, an empty water bottle, smelly clothes and the sandy towell they slept on. At least, that's what Josh thought. 'Hey, what the lumpy thing in your bag? You gotta have something else in there.' He said, frowning. Tyler smiled, a mischievous look in his eyes. He wiggled his eyebrows comically.
'This,' he said, gently easing out his ukulele from his backpack 'will make us some money.''Tyler, you are the smartest guy on the planet.' Josh said. He tried his best to get the sand off their towell and packed everything back in their bags.
They walked barefoot as it was really hot, all the way into the town (they were going to take the bus because it was far, but we're running out of money).
Trying to find a busy spot on the mostly empty road, they eventually found one, the blue of the beach in the distance behind them. They lay out their towell and sat on it, getting out the ukulele. Josh went off to find stuff he could use for drums.
Half an hour later he came back with all sorts; part of a bin, wooden base of a cupboard, metal part of a car wheel, and more. Tyler admitted to himself that, inside, he thought Josh looked a little insane, smiling widely and dragging all sorts of rubbish towards him.
'Okayyy,' he said as he dragged everything into position to make a homemade drumset. He tried a quick drumbeat, and, for rubbish, it sounded pretty good.
Tyler brought out a crumpled note out his pants. It had all the notes to a song he recently wrote. 'Hey Josh,' he said while staring at the note. 'Try a quick beat,' Josh attempted. Tyler shook his head. 'More upbeat,' Josh tried again, and Tyler clicked his fingers and smiled. 'Perfect! Do that again. And try to keep up with the changes.' He let Josh drum and joined in, strumming quickly on his ukulele. 'YEAH YEAH YEAH' Josh smiled at how cute Tyler was.
We don't believe whats on tv
Because it's what we want to see
And what we want we know we can't believe
We have all learnt to kill our dreams
I need to know that when I fail you'll still be here
Cause if you stick around I'll sing you pretty sounds and we'll make money selling your hair
I don't care whats in your hair i just wanna know whats on your mind
I used to say I wanna die before im old
But because of you I might think twiceJosh had stopped drumming and was staring at Tyler, amazed. His voice sounded so beautiful neither of them noticed that already someone had dropped a few coins in Josh's snapback.
Josh carried on and Tyler repeated the chorus, then another verse, smiling at Josh.
Before the song ended, the hat was full of coins and even some notes, and a crowd of people had crowded around, watching silently.
When the song ended, the people watching burst into a round of applause, cheering and throwing more money into and around the now full hat. Tyler and Josh smiled and stood up, bowing.
Immediately after this they went into the corner shop and got one can of red bull and four packets of Twinkies.
'Today was great.' Said Tyler, his mouth full of Twinkies and red bull mush.
'Yep'
Tyler shook the hat, still full of coins.
'Maybe, tomorrow we could earn enough to get us some toothbrushes and toothpaste'
He flicked his tongue along his teeth.
'Twinkies, when eaten in great amounts, are disgusting.'
This is true kids Im telling you dont eat any more than 10 Twinkies it is a huge mistake if you do. Don't be fooled by their creamy, sticky deliciousness.
They are satan in a sweet snack.
