The Phone Call

Chapter 6

I finally woke up after what felt like forever but I wasn't all that happy about it. After being in the dark and cold for what seemed like forever I finally saw the light. I woke up only to realize I am in this bright white room. I am by my self with no one around me. No windows either just the bright lights that are driving me crazy. Finally a door opens and my mom comes in. I have never been so happy to see her in my life. She hugs me for what feels like forever. Then Lilly, Jake, Danika, and Kristin come in. I run to them and hug them for forever.

"Where is Zach and the rest of them?" I ask eager to see Zach I have missed him so much. Wait isn't my concert today? "Mom isn't my concert today?'

My friends and my mom keep looking back and forth between each other like there is something I missed.

"What?" I say puzzled. They keep looking at each other and then finally my mom decides to speak.

"Honey, you were in a coma."

That was all she had to say. I knew it was over I knew I missed my concert. I knew I missed saying goodbye to Zach I knew I missed everything.

"How long?" I ask. The words barely being able to leave my mouth.

"2 months. The doctors weren't sure you were going to make it. Nobody knew what to do. We just kept praying. Austin and them stayed for as long as they could. They had to leave. I am sorry I really am." My mom said.

I wanted to cry. I wanted to puke. I just couldn't believe I was in a coma for that long. I couldn't believe that Eric had hit me that hurt. The only thing that kept me going was to see my friends. All of them. I look at all the people I love in front of me.

"What happened?" I ask

"After Eric hit you on your head you fell pretty hard. Eventually Zach, Alex, and Kristin came and well Zach lost it. He knocked Eric pretty hard and then stayed with you until the ambulance got there, even rode in the truck with you. He stayed the night and didn't even go to the concert. Austin dedicated songs to you. He has been tweeting for you to be okay. You've been in all of their prayers. They call us everyday hoping you would be awake. Only progress we got was one time you moved your fingers about a week ago. Cops arrested Eric and his daughter and he swore that if he hadn't killed you that he will when he gets out. As for us we have started senior year and a lot of people have been praying for you. No one has said anything bad about you on twitter. Vanessa you had everybody so scared." Jake says with tears in his eyes.

All those things he said about Zach staying with me was really sweet. I didn't think he cared that much about me.

"I'm sorry guys I didn't mean to scare anybody. I love y'all so much. Thanks for waiting for me. What day is it?" I ask

"it's Saturday which gives you the rest of today and tomorrow to rest for school Monday." Lilly said.

"I honestly thought I would never be happy to go back to school." We all laugh.

We get out of the room and I go change into some normal clothing. They take me home and I just sit on the couch. My mom hands me my phone.

"I know a certain someone who will be really happy to get a text from you." She says winking.

I smile and unlock my phone. I go to my text messages and find Zach's name. I send him a hey and wait for his reply. 10 seconds later my phone buzzes.

From: Zach :)

Vanessa?

The one and only haha :)

OMG you are okay? 

Yes I just got home from the hospital.

The guys will be so happy to hear that. I've really missed you and I can not wait to see you.

Hopefully it's not long.

We can definitely arrange a time and day. I mean I bet my friends are missing their girlfriends.

Wait what?

Yeah. Did you not know? Danika and Austin are dating. Lilly and Robert are dating. Kristin and Alex are dating.

Well go in a coma for 2 months and you miss everything lol

Yeah I guess you do. Hey I have to go Austin needs me but I will text you later.

Alright bye.

I put my phone down and lay down on the couch. Jake comes and moves my feet, sits, and then places my feet on his lap. Lilly sits in front of us on the floor. Kristin is on the recliner and Danika is in the beanbag. It is nice to have my friends with me. 2 hours later as I was just about to snooze off the doorbell rings.

"I'll get it." Jake says and gets up.

Of course the person at the door is Caitlyn. What makes people think I like her?

"Vanessa! I've missed you so much." She says coming over to hug me. I hug her back not cause I want to but because I am not rude. She needs to lay off her brother' perfume though. Like come on. Oh yeah I must have forgotten to mention Caitlyn's brother is Justin Bieber lol.

"Yeah I haven't really missed anybody or anything but the light." I say.

Jake nudges me. I guess he can tell I really don't like her.

"Oh haha. I'm sorry you were in a coma." She says.

"Yeah me too. Look I was about to take a nap before you came and I don't mean to be rude but I am really tired. So sorry but we will have to catch up soon. Yeah?' and with that I stand up and go to my room. I lay down and fall asleep.

I wake up the next morning and walk out of my room and I can not believe who I am seeing.

"Zach?" I say

All eyes look at me then I see them. The brown eyes I have been missing. His. Zach stands up and comes toward me and gives me the biggest hug ever. I wrap my arms around him and just take in his smell. I have missed him so much.

"Vanessa I have missed you so much. You honestly have no idea."  He says still hugging me.

We stay hugging each other for what feels like forever. We finally let go and I look in his eyes.

"Vanessa I have been meaning to ask you this for a long time, but do you wanna go out on a date with me tonight?" Zach asks. Just by his voice I can tell how nervous he is.

"Of course I do!" I beam.

"Well then looks like we have some shopping to do." Lilly says getting up from her seat.

She drags me out of the house into the car and to the mall. We shop for 3 hours as we are leaving the mall. Lilly texts Robert to get Zach and everybody else out of the house so I can get ready.

We reach the house and then Lilly gets me ready for my date with Zach I am literally so nervous my hair is shaking. We finally finish just in time. We decided to watch TV until they get back. Little did we know that they wouldn't return for a while.
