Chapter 12 (The Answer is Yes)

I started walking away but Scrap blocked my way and he smiled at me "Sorry but you can't leave." He told me and I looked at him crazy. He reached at me and turned me around quickly and pushed me really hard into Ahm's arms. I was dazed for two seconds before I got it together I turned around to beat Scrap's ass but Ahm grabbed my arm and held me back. I looked at him like he was crazy now and I said "Can you please let me go?"

He did his signature head tilt at me but I didn't do the same this time I just watched him and he waited for my response but instead, I changed my whole attitude around within mere seconds I relaxed and rolled my eyes, popping my gum once again. He watched me change and he looked confused. He let me go. "Are you mad at me?" He asked me and it confused me. "What?" I said in a weird tone. "Are you mad at me?" He repeated and I furrowed my brow. "No." I began "Did you do something for me to be mad at?" I finished and he started actually thinking and then looked back at me and said "I don't think so."

I was really taken back, "Who's Chuck?" He asked plainly, if I was drinking water right now I would've spit it all out. My eyes grew wide and my brows furrowed even more. "Why?" I tried to keep the shock out my voice but he picked up on it. "I might kill him." He said casually. I didn't know how to react to that. "Why?" He simply said, "Cause he touched you." As if I was sacred to him and no one else could have me.

I sighed and fixed my face annoyed at his response, I asked him "How do you know about that?" His eyes twinkled with revenge plain and simply replying "Sources." I huffed. "Why can't he touch me?" I asked another question. "Cause you mine." He said like this was a known fact or something and I froze as I looked him in the eyes trying to find out what kind of human being this man is, but all I saw were lifeless orbs. I rolled my eyes "I don't belong to anybody." I told him proudly. "You belong to me." He snapped back quickly and my neck snapped to meet his hard gaze.

"I know I'm not from here, so I don't know your influence here or who you think you are. But that really doesn't matter to me, because I don't care who you are. I do not belong to another person." I smartly clapped back at his. His amused look came back just for a glance and then his face changed entirely into a hard, cold look that made even my heart jump, and shivers run down my spine but outside I showed no fear.

"Go out with Chuck again and see what happens to him. I'm protective of mine." He threatened, it was so bitter I didn't know what to say back to that. I backed down first and I put my head down because for the first time in a long time I was defeated and couldn't say anything. I felt his hand under my chin and he lifted it up and looked at me. "I'll get Scrap for you, go home and read yo book." His tone and aura was softer then seconds before. I could see he knew he was too intimidating just then, so he backed away from me so I could go.

I turned and got out of there in a hurry. I don't know what just happened but it happened. I turned the corner and saw Cecil waiting on me like always. "Are you okay?" He asked me and I nodded lying because I honestly did not know if I was alright or not. I sighed and said "Let's go home." He nodded and started the car. "Cecil?" I asked and he looked in the mirror "Hm?" I sighed out loud "Can you take me to school and pick me up for the rest of the week?" I asked "Mhm." He said and I sighed out in relief.

Friday evening, I was in the locker room changing back into my uniform with Draya. "Man, it hasn't been the same on the bus without you. Caz thinks he's the smartest in the group again." We both laughed. "I think he needs one of your love taps again." I smiled "It's just for this week. I need it to cool down on the block. Last time I almost got Chuck killed." I said and she shook her head. "I told you not to get involved with them guys, they aren't any good." She bragged about warning me and I sighed deeply "Oh, smart one. Guide me for the rest of my life?" I said dramatically and she smiled "Yeah, if you buy me a chocolate frappe." I smiled and nodded in agreeance.

We walked out the locker room and ran into Drew and Chuck. Chuck smiled at me and he walked up to me and put his arm over my shoulders. "See you two later." I said to Dray and Drew and they waved me off and Chuck and I walked towards the carpool area. "How have you been? Haven't seen you much this week." Chuck asked a little concerned. I made a so-so motion with my hand, "Been here, been there." He chuckled just a bit.

"Been everywhere but to me. I see how it is." Chuck joked and I laughed, "Aw, did you miss me?" I asked him while poking his cheeks at his dimples. He poked mine and said, "Maybe." I blushed and he smiled at it. "What are you up to this weekend? Maybe we can see a show?" He suggested, I always wanted to see a Broadway show or any show in New York really, I like theater.

"That sounds pretty cool." He grinned, "Good, because I got these tickets to see The Wiz, but I don't know much about theater." He admitted and I smiled "Really? I was The Wiz last year at the Alley Theater in Houston. I'm excited!" Chuck looked pleased, "I chose the right person then. I'll pick you up Sunday. Are you going to the game tomorrow?" I nodded "Good, I hope you cheer for me." I smiled and we walked to our respective cars.

Cecil stood waiting for me and smiled at me and opened the door for me. I got in and he closed the door walked over to the driver side and climbed in and started the car. "How was school today Reagan?" He asked pulling out the lot. "It was fine, I actually learned something today. I like philosophy." I told him and he smiled "I'm glad to hear it. Sometimes I think you waste your time at school because you know everything, it's refreshing knowing you picked up something today." He said proud of me. I smiled.

When I got home I went to my room and I went to do my homework. I finished my book already and I began the paper for it. It was a simple three-page perspective paper, that was easy. Then I did some research for philosophy, and wrote down what I needed to for my paper.

I knew I had to go to the library tomorrow because I needed to get more resources for my research paper, so I called Draya to see if she would go with me. "Hello?" Draya asked and I said "Dray, you get home safe and sound?" I could tell she was smiling "Girl yes! I saw Mr. Fine on my way home again though. I need to see what school he goes to." She said and I laughed. "He's probably in college." I said to her and she replied "He'll wait for me."

I couldn't handle this girl. "Hey, guess who is going on date with Chuck on Sunday?" I said and she squealed, "Girl! No way! Where are you going?" I said excitedly, "To a show of The Wiz!"
         
          "I'm so jealous! But don't get caught." She said sternly to me. "I won't. It's in Manhattan, he won't be able to find out, hopefully." I said and she grunted. "But anyways, I was going to the library tomorrow morning and I was hoping you would go with me?" I asked. "Yeah, I was going to go anyway, I needed to do some research."

"Great, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Roger that."
