Clem and Gabe

Chapter Two: Richmond

Kate woke up to Javier getting some food out of the box. Tripp and Clem were still sleeping, but Gabe was awake just lying on the bed. 

"Breakfast?" Kate whispered.

"Yep." Javi whispered.

"Look at them." Kate whispered.

"It's good for Gabe to have a friend." Javi whispered.

"Yeaaaah, friennnnnd." Kate whispered.

Javi smirked then rolled his eyes and kept getting the food ready. Clem woke up and got out of bed. Tripp did the same thing. Gabe too. 

"Breakfast! Look at what I found." Javi said while pointing to a fold out table and chairs where the couch's were. 

They walked over and sat down. They had a can of beans for breakfast then just sat around. Clem was sitting on the bed and everyone else was talking at the table. This was the first good day since the power plant when Clem was 11 and a half. And Kenny was still alive. Clem was sitting in thought. Gabe walked over and sat on the bed.

"What's wrong?" Gabe asked.

"It's just... AJ. I can't stop thinking about what happened." Clem whispered.

"He's ok." Gabe whispered.

Clem had tears in her eyes.

"I just can't stop thinking about him. How I could have saved him." Clem whispered.

She leaned against Gabe and put her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her.

"Lee, Carley, Duck, Jane, Kenny. There gone. But AJ's not." Clem whispered.

"What are you saying." Gabe asked quietly.

"We're going back to Richmond." Clem whispered. 

She sat up.

"Are you insane." Gabe whispered franticly.

"You and me, we'll leave in the middle of the night, sneak into Richmond through David's old secret entrance, and go to Lingard's house. That's where AJ has to be." Clem explained quietly.

The day passed. Clem and Gabe crawled into bed. Javi and Kate crawled into bed too, and Tripp laid on the cot. Clem was looking at Gabe. An hour had passed. It was 1:46am. Clem looked at Gabe and nodded. They grabbed their pistols and snuck out of the cabin. They ran through the forest until they arrived at Richmond a half hour later. They snuck to the back entrance, and opened the sewer drain. They walked through the sewer until they reached the ladder. 

"This is it. We get caught, we die." Clementine said. 

They climbed the ladder and snuck over to where the shipping crates were. Where they all split up before, a year ago. 

"Come on." Clem whispered.

Clem spotted a ladder going to the roof. 

"Up here." Clem whispered.

They climbed the ladder and got on top of the roof. There was about a metre space from one rooftop to another. Clem ran and jumped. Gabe did the same. She kept running and kept jumping. Gabe was jumping every rooftop perfectly. Clem turned and looked at Gabe while running.

"Good job." She said.

"CLEM!" Gabe yelled.

Clementine looked in front of her at the eight metre gap. She couldn't stop, she slipped off the edge. Gabe dove over to the edge and grabbed her hand just in time. Gabe tried to pull her up but wasn't strong enough.

"Grab the edge. I can't pull you up!" Gabe said.

Clem grabbed the edge and Gabe helped her up.

"Thanks." Clem thanked.

"Any time. Let's go." Gabe responded.

"There's a ladder over here." He said.

They walked across the rooftop to the other side and climbed down the ladder.

"Hey man, where do you think they're hiding." One of the guards said.

"We found a cabin. Nothing. Chances are... they're long gone." The other guard said.

The guards had their backs to Clem and Gabe. They ran down an alley. They kept running until they reached the other end. Clem pointed at a house.

"That's Lingard's house." She told Gabe. 

They snuck over to the window. Clem opened it.

"You stay here and keep a lookout." Clem said.

She snuck inside and saw a light on in the kitchen.

"Come on AJ. Just eat!" Lingard yelled.

"No!" AJ yelled.

Clem pulled out her pistol and snuck closer. She jumped into the kitchen.

"STOP LINGARD!" She yelled.

"Clementine. Why would you come back? You know that Joan is looking for you." Lingard told her.

"Clem!" AJ exclaimed.

"Give me AJ. NOW!" Clementine demanded.

"I'm sorry but I ca-" Lingard tried to speak but was cut off by a bullet entering his stomach.

Clem grabbed AJ off the table. Lingard clicked a button around his neck. 

"CLEM! THE LIGHTS OUTSIDE ARE GOING NUTS!" Gabe yelled.

"Hey Lingard... FUCK YOU!" Clem said.

She ran to the window and climbed out. Guards were running down the street. Clem and Gabe ran across. Bullets were flying. They climbed up the ladder to the roof. They ran across the rooftops. Right before they climbed down the ladder, a beaten up Eleanor climbed up.

"Eleanor! What happened?!" Gabe asked.

"They came to me. Thought I knew where you were. Lingard wouldn't let Joan touch me. I was sleeping and they interrogated me. I escaped." Eleanor explained. 

They climbed down the ladder and ran back to the sewer entrance. They had escaped and ran back to the cabin. It was now 4:12am. They opened the door and walked over to the bedroom. Everyone else was awake sitting on the bed. Kate jumped up and hugged Gabe.

"Where were you?" Kate asked.

"Eleanor!" Tripp exclaimed.

Eleanor and Tripp hugged.

"Is that... AJ?" Javier questioned.

"We went back to Richmond and got AJ. Isn't that right... Goofball." Clem replied.

"Clementine!" AJ exclaimed. 

He was now three years old. Everything was great. They had food, water, and old friends. But what nobody noticed... was the black tracking marker on the back of Eleanor's leg.
