Falling For A Friend

New Years Eve

It was New Years Eve and Kevin was hosting a party. He was still amazed that his dad had actually agreed to it but somehow he had managed to persuade him, although being the sheriff it wouldn't surprise Kevin if had some hidden security cameras installed.

Betty had decided it was best they met up at Veronica's house to get ready first. To be honest she welcomed any excuse to get out of the house and the opportunity to spend time with her girlfriend and best friend was a pretty great excuse. Kevin seemed to be the only person Alice didn't have a problem with.

When she saw Veronica's dress, Betty asked: "how do you manage to always look so beautiful in everything you wear?" Veronica replied: "you should know all about that. You could literally wear the worst outfit ever and still look gorgeous" before giving her girlfriend a kiss.

It had only been a matter of weeks since they got together but for both of them that was only because they had both wasted too much time hiding their feelings. They both knew that this was the real deal and couldn't imagine not being together.

Hermione had already agreed that Betty could crash their afterwards. Although she had no idea about the relationship she had always liked Betty as she saw her as a good influence on Veronica and had helped her daughter be the better person she'd wanted to be.

Betty and Veronica arrived at the party and, noticing that Moose was their, Veronica commented: "I think we know who you're hoping for a midnight kiss from tonight" to which Kevin replied: "I could say the same thing to you". Oh Veronica was going to make sure she got her New Years kiss from Betty, even if it meant they had to sneak out.

There was still a long time to go until midnight but they wasted no time in getting the party started. Even the normally more reserved Betty was beginning to come out of her shell more, much to the delight of her girlfriend.

As the night went on, inevitably the rules Sheriff Keller had set out got broken and the house got pretty messy. The drink was flowing and there was plenty of dancing. It had been a terrible year but tonight was about putting all that behind them and having a good time.

On the rare occasion Veronica left Betty's side, Kevin spoke to the blonde and said: "I thought you two were keeping things low key". Betty replied: "we are, two friends dancing together isn't that unusual. You make it sound like we were making out in front of everyone".

As the clock ticked towards midnight Betty and Veronica were slow dancing together. Noticing Kevin and Moose, the girls both mouthed at Kevin "go for it" and just as the clock hit midnight, he followed their advice and kissed Moose.

Not long afterwards Veronica grabbed Betty by the hand and took her outside. As soon as they were outside Veronica pulled Betty into a passionate kiss, which the blonde eagerly returned within moments of their lips parting. When air became an issue they wished each other Happy New Year before kissing again.

As soon as they got in Betty said: "how about we have our own after party". Knowing exactly what the blonde was talking about Veronica said: "you sure?" When Betty said: "yes I'm sure" Veronica took her by the hand and led her upstairs
