Chapter 22

Alexa's POV

Me and Trin were on our way to Carlie's house because Trinity insisted on helping Carlie get ready for her date tonight. Ughh...her date, with Mason. It's not that I don't like Mason, I just don't like the fact that he is going after Carlie. Carlie belongs with Austin, and it just pisses me off that Carlie would agree to go out with Mason when Austin is gonna come back soon... At least I hope he does.

Austin hasn't been keeping in touch with Carlie, but I know that Harry's been talking to him. Harry may deny it, but I could tell he is lying...and I may have went through his recent calls too.

I didn't realize how lost in thought I was until Carlie came in front of me clapping her hands rapidly. I jerked at the sudden movement, and her and Trinity started laughing. I smiled a bit and blushed in embarrassment. When they finished their laughing session Carlie looked over at me in all seriousness "How do I look?" she questioned me. I shrugged my shoulders and mumbled a "Yeah..sure." I looked at her and Trin. Carlie had a confused look in her face but just shook it away. Trinity on the other hand noticed my unusual behavior. "Alexa? Can I talk to you outside..now." she coughed. I nodded and followed her outside.

"What the hell Lex? Why are you being such a downer on Carlie. She's finally getting over...you know who, and your not being the slightest bit supportive!" I paced in a circle not knowing what to say. I know I should be helping Carlie and lifting we spirits, but I can't just let go of her and Austin. I looked Trinity in the eyes and nodded, not wanting to continue this conversation anymore.

I turned I go back into the room, but Trinity stopped me. "Wait.." she paused. "You know something about Austin.. what do you know Lex?" she asked sternly. I bit my lip, Harry's gonna be pissed, but Trin has to know.

Harry's POV

"What the hell Alexa! Why did you tell her?" I shouted while pointing towards Trinity.

Alexa had stopped by with Trin after Carlie left to go on her date with Mason. I looked Alexa in the eyes and she looked a little scared. I took a step closer to her and she moved away a little. "Lex...Im sorry I didn't mean to snap, but I promised him I wouldn't tell anyone. I can't have every fricken person finding out he's coming back." I sighed. He's coming back. Austin's coming back...after 3 months, he's gonna be here, next week...

"I-I'm sorry Harry, but she was gonna find out soon enough...a-and-" I cut her off. "You didn't tell Carlie did you?" I asked in a hurry. They both shook their heads 'no' and relief washed over me.

'Just don't tell Carlie'

'But..why'

'Because. I don't know how long I'm staying...it might be for a day to collect more of my things...it might be a week to visit my mom... It could be forever, I'm still not sure.'

Austin and I's conversation from a couple of days ago replayed in my mind. I pictured him shaking his head and running his hand through his hair as he said the lat sentence. 'It could be forever'. Key word, could. To Austin 'could' always meant probably not.. and I'm pretty sure that meaning hasn't changed to him.

I snapped out if my thoughts and looked up at Alexa and Trinity, confusion painted all over their faces. "Don't worry about it... I'll tell you later." I stated, even though that was probably a lie.

Sure enough Trinity bought it and walked off into the kitchen to grab food. I began to follow her, but Alexa stopped me. She had that 'What the hell aren't you telling me' face on. She knew I was lying...she always does-I guess that's what being in a relationship for almost 4 months does to a girl- I smiled at her and kissed her on the lips before slipping away from her. What Austin had told me still in my mind.
