The closer we get to Boston, the more antsy I become. Logan is my other half and more than that. He is the other key.
I wonder what Izzy would say now if I could just call her and tell her all of this. Ryan wouldn't be the only one with True Sight. My whole life will change when I meet this guy.
"Hey, how much more time?" I ask as I turn to Elijah.
"Tyler, it's been a whole two minutes since the last time you asked me that." He rolls his eyes and I sink further into my seat. "You might actually be the worst person to take a road trip with."
"So eight hours and twelve minutes then?" I say with a semi-smile. "Look, it's been awhile since we stopped. Plus, we should get a good night's sleep before getting to Logan." Elijah tenses up.
"The Petro descendent. He will be safe when he is with us; Simon too. We should get there as soon as possible," he says quickly.
"Elijah, you need to sleep." He glances at me for a moment and I give him a stern look. "Rest Elijah," I beg. He lets out a heavy breath and pulls off the highway. Soon we are at a motel getting a room.
"One room or two?" The man asks. Elijah pulls some cash out of his pocket, and it is clear to see that we can't afford two.
"One," I say quickly as Elijah shoves the cash back into his pocket. He looks back at me in confusion. "We've already shared a room once Elijah, it won't kill us." I smile and he looks back to the man.
"One it is." The man hands Elijah the key and smiles.
"The room on the left with the red door," but as soon as he speaks, his face saddens. "I'm so sorry. Let me just show you." He walks ahead of us and Elijah just looks at me and shrugs. We make it to the room and the man opens up the door for us. "If you need anything, just let me know."
"When did you get True Sight?" I ask before he leaves. He smiles down at me.
"I'm really sorry about that Miss. I didn't mean.."
"It's no problem. It's just-" I stamper off.
"I didn't mean to rub it in your face. I know there are a lot of people out there who fall in love just to find out that the person they love isn't truly theirs. Your boyfriend and you-"
"He isn't my boyfriend." The man's face relaxes a bit. "He is taking me to-" but I stamper off again.
"Two years ago." The man says with a smile. "Emily Louise. I have loved her my whole life and two years ago I grabbed her by the hand to prove to her that soulmates or not, we were meant to be together. Then my world lit up." I smile along with him now. I turn back and Elijah is already lying on the bed, flipping through the channels on TV. "You love him." I turn back to the man.
"No. No, I really don't."
"Trust me, girl, the way he looks at you: he loves you. And you mirror those feelings."
"He is taking me to my soulmate in Boston," I say quickly.
"That must be why heartbreak is written all across his face." I turn back to Elijah and he glances up at me.
"Well, we don't have money for a bellhop tip!" He says loudly, then turns his attention back to the television.
"I don't love him. The thought hasn't even passed my mind."
"If you need anything, let me know." The man says with a smile and finally heads back down the hall. I close the door after me and lean against it. This room is cleaner and a lot more spacious. I check the clock and take a spot on the bed. My head is at the foot of the bed and Elijah is sitting upright at the head of the bead.
