"Is she going to be okay?" Skypaw flinched. Her tail brushed the leaves around the soft floor. "Of course she is, she's breathing, look," Another voice said. Skypaw thought she recognized the voices, but she couldn't smell anything. Skypaw opened her mouth to speak but she just squeaked and gasped. "Oh look, Whiskertail!" The first voice said. "She's making noises!" Whiskertail. Skypaw thought. I know that name! Skypaw took a huge breath and winced. The same crushing pain in her side and chest burst through her. Her eyes were crusted shut and sticky. "Whiskertail, she can't open her eyes!" The first voice said. "I will take a look." A voice that sounded like Whiskertail mewed. Skypaw felt the warm breath of the Clan medicine cat blow back her whiskers. Then a soft tongue rasped over her eye. Skypaw gasped and breathed out. "Oh thank you Whiskertail!" The first voice said. It sounds like Snowpaw! Skypaw thought. Whiskertail's tongue rolled over her other eye. Skypaw peeled open her eyes. Her eyes shot around. She was in the medicine cat den. Snowpaw, Gorsetail, and Whiskertail were crouching over her. Skypaw tried to speak again. Another squeak came out of her mouth. "Whiskertail!" Snowpaw growled. "She can't talk!" Whiskertail slapped her tail over his mouth. "I am aware Snowpaw," Whiskertail padded towards the little pool of water in the den. She grabbed a piece of moss and soaked water on it. Snowpaw padded up to Skypaw. "You almost died!" He mewed quietly. Skypaw closed her eyes and nodded. Whiskertail padded up to them with moss in her jaws. "Open," She mewed to Skypaw behind the moss. She opened her mouth and Whiskertail squeezed the water into her mouth. It was ice cold and refreshing. "Mmm... Ug..." Skypaw croaked. Snowpaw jumped to his paws. "She's talking!" He yowled. Whiskertail lifted her tail. "Silence Snowpaw," She mewed impatiently. Snowpaw looked at his paws and nodded. Skypaw slid her gaze over to Gorsetail. He was looking out of the warm den, the breeze from the trees ruffled his dark gray fur. "Gorse... Tail..." Skypaw choked. The word ended in a fit of coughing. Gorsetail turned his head to look at Skypaw. Whiskertail rushed over. "Open," She demanded again. Skypaw painfully opened her jaws, now wet with water. She closed her mouth and rested her head on the comfortable moss nest. She glanced at Gorsetail again who was looking concerned. He looked at the ShadowClan medicine cat. "Can you leave us for a moment?" Gorsetail mewed politely. Whiskertail hesitated and then nodded, beckoning Snowpaw with her tail as she padded out of the den. Snowpaw slowly followed. Gorsetail stood up and padded towards Skypaw. He laid down at her side. "Skypaw," He began. "I know you hate me-" He was interrupted. "No Gorsetail," Skypaw said quickly. "You saved my life, how could I hate you now?" Gorsetail's eyes widened. "But... I just carried you that's all!" He mewed. Skypaw nodded. "But you took me home, and I shouldn't have left," She meowed. Gorsetail smiled at her and purred loudly. He bent down to lick her ear. A burst of new love flowed through her veins. "When you have quite finished," Skypaw turned her head towards Whiskertail, who was peeking in the den. "Skypaw should have some sleep." Gorsetail stood up straight. "Of course." He mewed. He headed through the entrance. When he brushed past Whiskertail, Gorsetail quickly twisted his tail around hers. Whiskertail snapped her head around to glare at him. Skypaw stared in disgust at Gorsetail. I thought I could accept him as my father. Skypaw thought furiously. She lashed her tail. Whiskertail rushed to the back of the den. She came back with a bundle of herbs in her jaws. She set them down in front of Skypaw. "Eat them." She mewed. Skypaw sniffed them and backed away in shock. "I've never smelled an herbs like this before," She breathed. Whiskertail snorted. "You have to get out more," She mumbled. Skypaw looked at the herbs doubtfully. "Do I really have to eat them?" She squeaked. Whiskertail halted. She padded up to Skypaw. "Now what kind of warrior is this?" She hissed. "I'm sure Lakeheart would want you to be a good little warrior and eat the herbs," She paused. "Also, if you don't eat them, you will have a big chance of joining Lakeheart in the ranks of StarClan." Skypaw stated at her in surprise. Whiskertail seems like such a gentle, delicate cat. But when you don't eat the herbs, she'll find a way to make you. Skypaw reluctantly started chewing the leaves. She gaged once or twice, but she never let Whiskertail see.
