Kelly’s POV

For the next two days, I was kept in my room. The only people who kept me from complete isolation were the hospitals nurses, but they only came to bring me meals and then scurried away like I was a rabid hamster. I also knew that the ANBU were probably watching me, but it’s not like I could see them.

Currently, it was my third day of being here. The boredom was excruciating, seeing as I had no paper to draw on and I wouldn’t dare open my mouth to sing or talk to myself in fear of the ANBU coming to take me away.

I was busy imagining an extremely muscled man wearing a tutu whilst holding a baby seal and standing on an iceberg when a cough interrupted. I snapped my eyes open to see the Hokage standing at the foot of the hospital bed I was residing in with two ANBU at his flank. Sitting up higher, I stared at them to show them I was listening…. But even if I was, I wouldn’t understand.

The two ANBU approached me after the Hokage nodded at them, and each gently grabbed one of my arms and lifted me off the bed, which wasn’t too pleasant, let me tell you. I was fully capable of getting up.

They allowed me to place my feet upon the floor and lightly pushed me towards the door, where the Hokage had moved to. Sarutobi nodded- at me or the ANBU, I couldn’t tell- and opened the door and went through. The ANBU and I followed, and when I seemed to want to wander off the ANBU would steer me along in the right direction.

I was glad I was still in my clothes from before and not in a hospital gown. Randomness, yay!

We had left the hospital and entered the bustling streets of Konohagakure, and I stared in awe. There were many people, some dressed in ninja attire, others in traditional Japanese apparel, and some in what would be somewhat normal in my own world. The smell, though, was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It was delectably clean smelling, the faint scent of pine mixed with the smells of the restaurants nearby.

Where I came from, the air always smelled decent, of both nature and smoke. This aroma, though, was amazing. Not even sniffing those smelly pens could beat this.

We kept moving, passing curious and apprehensive glances. I couldn’t blame them- I mean, why would the Hokage and two ANBU be leading a girl around? Are they suddenly offering ‘Tours of Konoha with the Hokage and those ANBU guys’ package deal, complete with a hotel for three days and free meals for each day?

No, no they weren’t.

They probably thought I was an enemy ninja who was now being brought to her inevitable death. Dandy.

‘Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…’ I sang in my head, blocking out the people around me.

Eventually, we arrived at what looked to be a worn apartment complex. The paint was chipped, the it looked to be tilting somewhat to the right…. Must be my imagination. When we approached the stairs, I noticed that they, too, didn’t look trustworthy. Someone should fix them.

We walked up and stopped at a door that looked decently taken care of, its paint was barely chipped, which the Hokage knocked on. I heard something metallic sounding fall from inside, which made me flinch, and then I heard a raspy woman’s voice yell out something.

After a moment, the door was wrenched open and a slightly disheveled old woman stood in the frame. The had gray, straggly hair that was put in a ponytail, and was thin and small. She wore a light green apron, which had a few stains of unknown substances on it. Her eyes widened when she saw the Hokage.

“H-Hokage-sama!” She stuttered, and then bowed. He nodded at her, smiling, and the started talking.  To me, it sounded like complete gibberish. When the Hokage paused in his speech, the lady look at me, her eyes slightly squinted. Before I could try to figure out why she was looking at me, she turned back to the Sandaime.

She was proably the Hokage's girlfriend, wondering why the Hokage was with such a beautiful girl. I could just imagine her being like 'Why are you cheating on me with that ugly bitch, Sarutobi?!' *futile and weak punch aimed at Hokage* And then the Hokage would be like, 'No, Bobita, I only love you.'

FFFFFFFF- I should really stop thinking like this.

But wait… Wouldn’t she be freaked out by the ANBU? To see if what my mind was telling me was true, I spun around on my heel to see a lack of two masked individuals.

‘Knew it.’ I thought, turning back to them. I was surprised with what I saw.

The Hokage was gone. Now, I was alone with some old lady. She scowled at me, and then waved her hand toward herself as if to say ‘come here’. I followed her as she walked up yet another set of rickety stairs and led me to a chipped green door, which had a small sign next to it with a faded number 23 on it. She pulled a ring of keys out of her pocket and, after examining many of them, she took one and unlocked the door. She let the door swing open, and then pointed into the apartment. When I took a step forward to go in, she nodded and kept on pointing. I ended up going inside, and when I went to turn around to look at her, the door slammed closed.

She definitely seems nice.

Instead of boiling over the fact that that lady was a bitch, I decided to take a look around what I supposed would be my new home. I mean, why shove me in an apartment? To kill me?

I examined first the small living room, which had bare white stucco walls and a light hardwood floor that looked like it needed to be swept. There was only a small coffee table surrounded by four red cushions. There was an open doorway that led to the equally small kitchen, which had an oven, stovetop, sink,  a few drawers, and two cabinets. There wasn’t even any countertop room! The cabinets were white, too, which added to my chagrin. The floor was black and white tiles, which also looked dusty.

Well, at least I even got a place to live.

I went back into the living room, and saw another door on the left side of the room. This door, surprisingly, was not white, but white. I walked over and opened it to see a slightly bigger room, a bedroom. There was a twin bed tucked into the left corner under the window, and it had grey covers on top and one pillow. There was a wooden dresser  on the wall across from me and a mirror over it. On the dresser, I saw something shiny, and being the shiny-obsessed person I was, I went over to it.

As I approached, I noticed it was a key.  ‘Probably to the apartment.’ I thought, and put it in the pocket of my bright skinny jeans. On the other side of the dresser, there was something else. Something wonderful.

My iPod. I nearly squealed in delight as I snatched it up and pressed it’s metallic coldness to me cheek. Thankfully, the earphones were still with it.  I also stuck that in my pocket, my mood brightened.

If I had to give a definition of an iPod, it would be a travelling device for your ears, letting them go back in time and to any place.

Yeah, I’m philosophical like that.

I continued looking around, taking in the dark brown curtains that were on the sides of the window.

I then looked at the other door in the room, which was white, and then opened it. It got stuck when it was only halfway open, so I pushed it with all my weak glory. It decided to be an ass and flung open, making me faceplant into the cold, white tiled floor. I groaned and picked myself up off of the floor.

This room was a bathroom, a bit smaller than the living room. It hand a sink with a mirror above it and a cabinet under it. There was a toilet, and a bath/shower combination. The shower curtain was not white, but light blue with a rubber ducky pattern.

A bit of my hair flopped in front of my eyes, so I blew it away. In this moment, I was reminded that my hair was not blonde anymore.  This made my heart clench, reminding me that I was not home, and that I might never see my family again. I shook my head and looked in the mirror for the first time since coming here.  My hair was now a mix of sea foam green and teal, and was short and a bit unevenly cut. My eye color was the same, though, and my skin was still pretty pale.

Though this was not long term, I looked kind of dirty. I guess that’s what happens when you aren’t permitted to bathe for three days.

AN: Okay, this chapter is boring and sucks, but it had to be written. The next chapter will contain a main character >:D At first, I was going to write that all in this one, but it’s already 1,500 words, so whatever.  And yea, I made her hair short now. I just REALLY loved that picture of a short haired Miku 8D
