If there was something everyone knew about Maine, it was that a she had no middle ground; it's either she really loves you or she's completely apathetic towards you. Add this to the fact the the girl was headstrong, well then, let's just say she gets what she wants when she wants it and how she wants it, and when she wants to let go. This is true for everything in her life like that one time she decided that she wanted to learn how to knit.
"Susmaryosep ka naman Menggay. Do you plan on buying out the whole store? Anong gagawin mo sa sandamukal na yarn at kniting needles? Gagawan mo ba ng sweater buong angkan mo? Wait, no. Pati angkan ko magagawan mo na ng sweater at this point - may terno pang scarf."
Alden was used to her sure but that does not stop him from complaining when his childhood bestfriend drags him to random trips just because she made up her mind to do something.
"Can you just please not lecture me right now? I'm on a high." she said, throwing three more balls of yarn onto the cart.
"What will you do if this does not work out? Remember when you took up crochet? Sino ba namroblema kung saan ididspose lahat ng stuffing at yarn at kung ano-ano pa? Di ba ako? Maawa ka naman."
Maine knowing just how to shut her bestfriend up, clutched onto his arm and leaned her cheek on his shoulder.
"Don't get mad na. If this does not work out, I promise to help you dispose everything." no, she will not and she will forget. "Love mo naman ako di ba?"
"Ay oh. Nag beautiful eyes pa. Ikaaaaw." he said, pinching her cheek. "Ayaw ko madakdakan nanaman ni Nanay ah. This is all on you. Do not drag me into this paguwi."
She gave him a saccharine smile and a little salute before parking herself under his arm and hugging his waist.
This was the one thing that surprised her parents when Alden came into Maine's life - the two clicked the moment he helped her down the slide in their village's playground. Since then, there was no seeing Alden without Maine and vice versa.
"Alden, cuddle." her arms streched out towards him, her lips in an adorable pout.
He collected her from the bean bag before sitting down with her in his arms. The two were lucky that Nanay was not around to see the multitude of shopping bags that Maine acquired. Although Tatay did give them a look of disapproval and then told them to hurry up and hide everything before Nanay comes home.
"How come you're only clingy pag may kasalanan kang ginawa tsaka pag may kailangan ka sakin? I really really like clingy Maine you know? Sarap sarap ng hug." he said holding her to him even tighter.
"Because if I am like this with you all of the time, I won't have any leverage anymore. Hindi mo na gagawin gusto ko, hindi mo na ko sasamahan, you won't have something to look forward to everytime I throw a tantrum and you brave through it."
"Hay, Menggay. Of course I have something to look forward to. I always look forward to spending time with you."
"Kahit babaeng dragon mode ako?"
"Kahit babaeng dragon mode pa basta ikaw."
