"Psst, Alden" she poked his bum.
The bedimpled boy has been lying on his belly for the past two hours busying himself with his phone - his brows adorably scrunched together in concentrtation, chewing on his bottom lip as he played.
"Uy, Richard." she shook his leg.
"Mmmh."
She pouted, glaring at the back of his head.
Ayaw mo ko pansinin ah.
He gave a non-commital grunt as she threw herself over his back.
"RJaaaaaaaay." she said poking his cheek where his dimple should be.
"Hmakit?" came a muffled response.
Ah. ayaw mo talaga ah.
"Jay." she said blowing on his ear and taking a bite.
A squeak came out of her mouth as RJ swifty turned over. She now lay on her back as his arms caged her - his body pushing hers down.
"Bakit nanaman po nangungulit ang baby ko?"
Maine snorted. She is yet to get used to him using terms of endearments on her and if she was being honest, she thinks she'll never get used to it. He's made it into a game of 'Make Nicomaine Laugh with Silly Pet Names'.
"Aba't bakit mo ko tinatawanan, Sugarplum?" he said in jest and was rewarded with her asthmatic laugh.
"RJ naman eh." she managed to say in between breaths. "Pacorny nang pacorny yung mga tinatawag mo sakin."
"If it makes you smile ang laugh, it's worth it. Kahit ako pa pinagtatawanan mo... Umpy umpy umpikin."
"Jusko ka, Pokerson." she laughed pinching his cheeks. "Hulaan ko kasunod diyan. Sweetiepie?"
"Hala." he gasped. "Paano mo nalaman? Mind reader ka ba, Cuppycake?"
"Alam mo kasi, Gumdrop. You're easy to read."
If there was anything true about RJ and Meng it was this; they know how to ride with eachother's weird trips.
"Snoogums, boogums, masyado ka nang nakakatakot baka mamaya kung ano na nababasa mo sa isip ko ah."
She scoffed. "If I know, puro harot yan kasi ang harot," she pinched his nose. "harot, harot mooooo."
He made a face and gave her a boyish smile "Pero di ba I'm still the apple of your eyes?"
"Because I love you so and I want you know that I'll always be right here... kahit na sagad sagaran ang pagka waley ng jokes mo at hirit mo."
"..."
"Ano hindi mo na alam kung paano ipapasok yung sunod na linya 'no?" she giggled.
"Andaya naman talo nanaman ako." he pouted.
And she could not help but give him a peck. "Sige ganito na lang since I love to swing sweet songs to you because you are so dear, kakantahan na lang kita ng Wish I May."
RJ sat up, his face bare of any emotions, his eyes glued to the wall in front of him.
"...Uhm, Dad. Okay ka lang? Alam mo naman na joke ko lang yun di ba?" Maine said cautiously as she sat up.
"Nicomaine, takbo. Kasi pag naabutan kita lagot ka sakin." he said, his eyes full of promise of mischief and... something else we should not be privy to.
