Immediately, everything made sense. Of course, Julian was watching them the entire time. Barry should've known.

"You were watching us. You heard everything" Barry announced angrily. He scanned the room. It happened to be vacant, except for Julian.

"Damn right I did. You have no idea how much this is going to change things." Julian was tense with anger.

Barry shot Caitlin a look. She appeared shocked.

"Julian, what are you talking about?" Caitlin choked out.

"I'm talking about this potential friendship, this place on the team. It's over. The only reason I agreed to this is because of you, Caitlin. But you" Julian pointed at Barry and began to yell, "ruined everything. I thought Caitlin could make me happy, I thought we could have a future. I was obviously wrong. I should've never gotten myself into this." He shouted angrily.

Barry could only stare. Anger, hatred, annoyance all stirred inside of him. As if the timing couldn't be any worse, Iris and Joe walked into the cortex.

Great...

"What's going on? We could hear you  yelling from the elevator." Iris questioned, noticeably confused.

"I'm glad you're here, Ms. West. Can you believe this? Barry here has just confessed his love for Caitlin. What do you think about that now?" Julian just had to say.

Iris froze in complete shock. She obviously wasn't prepared for the news.

"Okay, enough!" Barry shouted. "Julian, look I'm sorry but this has been consuming me for months. I've know Caitlin for much longer than you have. You have no idea what we've been through together, and you never will. I suggest you do leave."

With a grim nod and a lethal looking glance, Julian stormed out of the room. Before Barry could turn to Iris, she scurried out as well. Joe didn't dare say a word and followed his daughter.

That left Caitlin and Barry.

The two faced each other, unsure what to say after the sudden occurrence of events. Barry figured he should apologize.

"I'm sorry you had to hear that. I know he means something to you." Barry said painfully.

"No, stop. You're the one. You're the one I care for."

Guilt rose in Barry's gut.
"Caitlin, I spoke too soon. I should've waited to tell you about how I felt. Now I'm in a quarrel with both Julian and Iris because of my impulsive mistake. I was afraid I'd lose you to him."

"No, Barry, stop being so hard on yourself." She wrapped her arms around him for support. "You can't blame this on yourself. I'm more than happy that you told me, it's going to work out."

They held each other for a brief moment.

I could get used to this, Barry thought.
