Chapter 4

Clay's Pov.

The council was eerily quiet. There was tension in the golden palace. Brilliant lights shone off the walls and ceilings. Not a sound could be heard in the room capable of holding five hundred people. I decided to clear my throat to bring a semblance of continuance to the meeting. Instead,everyone turned to me expectantly like i held the solution to the shattering news that was announced seconds ago.

"go on, Son". King Ralph IV encouraged. Since when did Father call me son in public? Perhaps i should just say something.

"well, if i am excused, i volunteer to venture to the mortal lands to protect the princess of the North and perhaps bring her back to her people before Draken's minions get to her". I was shockd by this new urge to protect this person.

"and i go with him". Prince Damien said as he rose from his seat beside his grandfather. He gave me a look,daring me to say otherwise. What was his problem? I only wantd to help!

Father brought up his hand to speak, "no Prince Damien, you would do no such thing. Your people need you. Your grandfather would step down soon,and it is your place to take over the throne.

You can't leave this..."

"I can," Damien interrupted. "And i will. If anyone of you listened to me all these years,maybe we wouldnt be gathered here right now."

It was a known fact that Damien had the gifts of Strenght,Speed and Sight. Just like i had gifts of Teleporting and Weather-control. But no one ever believed him when he saw his sister,his twin sister who everyone believed to have died in a fire that consumed his mother and father when he was just 2yrs. It was assumed he spoke out of survivors guilt or grief or both. He claimed she lived far away.

Right now,i believe his gift is true,because just a few minutes ago,a trusted spy brought news from Draken's lair of the hunt for the princess of the North which has been on secretly for years but until last night, has been fruitless. Draken has already sent his minions to get her. And i'm guessing he sent Matriv who does all his dirty or maybe someone more sinister, Raul...

If we have to do something, it has to be done fast, before she is gone the second time...

Damien would have to calm his temper.

But i do understand him. To live with the guilt in safety,while everyone thought him crazy and perhaps not stable enough to be king. But the guy was emotional. I would be too if it were my sister...

Damien's Pov.

I was seething. It just wasn't fair. She was on earth. Helpless all this while. While i spent all my life wallowing in luxury. And Prince Clay? Is he offering genuine help? I accept,as long as he knows she is my responsibility. I would protect my twin with my life.

Clay's pov.

"i'll be honoured to help you in your mission to find the missing Princess. And i apologize on behalf of myself and the West Vampire Colony for not trusting your earlier judgement", i said to Damien. I wanted to be part of this and i wanted him to know.

"thank you. I'm honoured too". He confided in relaxed tones.

"that's settled!", Father announced!

"get an army of vampires and werewolves for the mission and prepare yourselves to be transported through the portal"

"not so fast your Highness," a tiny voice interrupted. I recognised the small blond woman as the Queen of fairies. "it would be foolhardy to expose ourselves like that to the mortal world" she continued.

"she is right your Highness", Phillipe, the Master Sorcerer added. "just the two young men would cross the portal. Any other way, and their presence would cause as much havoc as could possibly be conceived."

"but its too dangerous to the princes..." Father argued.

"its the wisest way to get into the mortal world. And they would need disguises"...

After hours of deliberation, Phillipe agreed that Julian,my trusted friend and right hand vampire,would follow Damien and I into the portal.

Details and part of the world where the Princess was sighted were delivered. Everyone,was as shocked as i was when the spy revealed she was living with her 'father'.

How was that possible?!....
