Afternoon - 1:09 - Jax Dean
It's been hours since everyone has woken up and started the day. The storm has just about died down. It's still severely snowing and the service is still out. Luke has been hold up in his room after what happened with Ashter. I have half the mind to go and see him but I know it wouldn't help. I know when someone needs their space. It's been a hard few days for all of us, no telling what's on his mind. Dead brother back to life, best friend on the verge of death, who knows what else is fighting him in his head. I wish I could help but that man is a mystery. You feel like you find answers but you only get more questions. It irritates me to the core. I've always been the one to see a problem and fix it. However I could never fix my dad, so what makes me feel I can fix Luke? Does even know he needs fixing? Hell does he need fixing? I mean he has a tragic story growing up but a lot of people do. There's not a lot of them out there though that fights as long as Luke has. He hides his past better than most and it doesn't seem like he knows that there are people here that want to help. Maybe that's just what he wants.
"Hey stranger. What are you doing in here" I jump, Cody's voice startles me.
"Oh God...don't do that."
"Ha ha, what? Imagine my surprise, I went to sleep in here alone and woke up looking at your face, don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining."
"Oh shut up, I came in here to think clearly."
"Yeah...I did the same thing, but I got seriously tired and...well."
"You do know you drool a little right?"
"I do not!" He wiped his mouth and nothing shows up in his sleeve.
"Made you look." I laugh,
"Very funny Jeans," he smirks,
"Ugh you know I hate that nickname. It's so stupid how you made that name,"
See, since my last name is Dean and my first name is Jax. Cody decided to make the connection from my first letter of my first name and switch it with my first letter of the last name, ending up with Jeans.
"Come on Jeans, you owe me that much. I took a gun handle to the back of the head for you."
"If that gun didn't jam we wouldn't even be having this conversation."
"I also wouldn't have a migraine either, but to each their own I suppose. I couldn't even find any Advil anywhere in this maze of rooms."
"Do you want me to go find you some?"
"Oh that would be splendid Jeans, just don't get lost."
"I'll be back. Try not to fall asleep again."
"No promises."
He goes back to closing his eyes and I walk out of the study room. I believe the closest bathroom was down the hall and to the left, but that ends up being another spare bedroom that looks like it hasn't been touched on years. Not in the super dusty haunted house kind of way, but more in the it's never been used way. The staff here does a good job cleaning I suppose. I just make head back to my room so I can check the bathroom in there. When I reach the stairs though I can hear Ashter and Luke talking. I hate to be the one to ease drop, but can you blame me?
"Luke you can't just...No I won't let you go out there, it's suicide"
"Like that's ever been a problem for me. Mark is back, you know what that means. He's crazy and he's out to get me. He...he left me this note."
"What did it say?"
"It said 'This isn't over little brother' that can only mean one thing. He'll be back and I need to be ready for that."
"Master Luke calm down, let me go get you something to drink. I'll be right back."
I run towards the living room and hide behind the wall. Ashter passes and goes towards the kitchen. I look back up to Luke's room but I see him coming out. He sprints down the stairs and heads to the garage. I do the only logical thing and follow him. He enters the garage and gets into one of his cars. He's completely crazy, he's gonna go back for John. In that moment I can only think that Cody will not be getting that Advil any time soon. Because, I for whatever reason decide to run and get inside the passenger side of the car with Luke.
"What the hell are you doing in here Jax? Get out." He just gives me the weirdest look ever. Like I just slapped him in the face.
"No, you're going after John and you're not going alone. You can either sit here and argue with me or you can wait for Ashter to realise what you're doing." He just sits there with amazement, "We don't have all day."
"Okay okay. Fine. But if you die it's not my fault."
He hits the button to open the garage and puts the car in gear, slamming his foot on the pedal we go. Swerving along the frozen fountain. The snow blanketing the windshield as soon as we get out of the garage. Luke turns on the wipers and heat. He throws a bag in the back seat.
"What's in the in bag?"
"Clothes, pain pills, heating pad and food. "
It takes only a few minutes to reach the crashed car. The SUV is covered in snow. We run out and reach the back doors and Luke tries to open it but it's iced shut. He goes back to his car and grand a tire iron out of the back. Snow covering is dark black hair. He slams the door handle a few times before the ice breaks away and he can open the door. But when he does, no one's inside. The only thing in there is a note with blood splattered on it. Reading "Come get him."
"No...NO!" Luke throws the tire iron into the void of the storm.
"Luke...we have to get back. We can't stay out here long." I'm already shivering to the bone. My hands are already feeling numb and turning blueish.
"He can't be gone..no he has to be here." All reason goes out of his head. He searches the car all over, but the only thing he finds is the note.
"Luke...please! We have to get out of this cold."
"He was here Jax! I left him to save you and they took him! This is my fault!"
"No it's not, you couldn't have known. None of us could." He stops what he's doing and looks up at me and his eyes burn with fire. His steely blue eyes are no longer cold in this moment. The rage in his eyes burn brighter than anything I've ever seen. I have seen the real Luke King. He is not some rich kid that can't defend himself. He's a broken Angel with his wings clipped, but with fight in him.
"I'm going to find him. I'm going to get John back and no one is going to stop me."
