Afternoon - 1:30 - Luke King
Leaving the hospital was a painful process. So many nurses telling me to stay another night and rest. I couldnt handle staying there any longer, not with a mystery to solve. That mystery being the thorn in my side the very day I hired her, Alyssa. I know she was in my office, my very locked office. Why and how, I dont know but Im going to find out. I call for a cab, something Ive never had to do. I would call Ashter but he wouldnt agree with what Im doing, same with Krista. So I do this on my own, the only way I can do this. The cab finally get here, and I get in. I tell him where to go, and he starts the drive. I have half a mind to regret getting in this cab, because this car is dirty as all hell. After thirty of so minutes, we arrive. I thank him, hand him the money, and close the door. I have just but one wish, that I never experience that ever again. Walking towards my building feels strange, like I dont belong. That I am an intruder, but I know the real intruder is my pesky assistant. George isnt at the door, but a new face replaces him. A somewhat young girl, black hair, but it looks dyed because brown roots are showing. She has a welcoming smile, with warm brown eyes. When I reach the door, she opens it and welcomes me with a soft voice, like a whisper in a dream.
"Hello! Welcome, Im Elizabeth, how may I help you?"
"Yes actually, what happened to George?" I can tell this question puzzles her.
"I'm sorry sir, I dont know what you mean, Im new here. Started two days ago. Uh may I ask who you are...wait Her eyes go wide. Youre...oh my God, I just. You're him."
"I'm Luke King, I own this building. I dont remember hiring you. As long as youre here, can you please follow me to my office for a moment, to clear up all of this."
"Yes sir, right away." She smiles,
"Thank you."
I continue through the lobby, and make my way to the elevators. Elizabeth follows me with a concerned yet, excited expression. As if she just won the lottery, but doesnt remember entering it. Once inside the elevator, we stand silently. Floor after floor goes by and I wonder, did Alyssa replace George with this, girl. I keep getting more and more questions without answers to follow. Thats about to change, because now Im mad. The peace doesnt stay long.
"So, Mr. King. What do you need me for?" She asks,
"Theres been a complication in the company, and I need to fix it. You might be able to help."
"I would be more than happy to help, but how? I have not been here long."
"Yes I know, which makes you the most trusted person right now."
I can tell by her face that she has no idea what Im talking about, which is what I need. Shes new, doesnt know anyone here. This means she could have nothing to do with Alyssa. We are out of the elevator and a few rooms away from my office. Once there, I take out my key, unlock the first lock, then I use my key card, and unlock the electronic holder in the door. This process usually only taking seconds for me, takes me minutes. I study everything from the sounds of the locks, to the way the door opens. I notice everything, but it all seems correct. The air is at perfect room temperature, not too cold or hot. My desk seems to be in order as there is nothing moved. My phone light is blinking which means a message has been saved to it. I quietly move towards it and slowly click the button to hear it. Luke, son, please you have to come see me, its urgent. I made some-uh Im in trouble and I think you are too, people in here they are out to get me. They know about you, watch out. Come. See. Me. Now. the phone cuts off. I stand there, thoughts going through my head. I remember Im not alone, Elizabeth is watching me. I look at her and she looks down at her feet.
