Jesus, my head. Where the hell am I? Slowly I opened my eyes, which was difficult because they were kind of gummy. After a second I recognized my hotel room back at The Ritz, it was dark and the TV was on and casting a blue glow over everything with its standby setting. I gradually twitched my fingers and toes, then worked up my body, getting the stiffness out of my joints, however I stopped when I realized there were more important things. Someone was on top of me. The girl from the party was curled up on my chest, her nose buried in my t-shirt and arm wrapped around the side of my ribcage. What was even more surprising was that my arms were wrapped tightly around her waist and our legs were tangled together affectionately. Shit! What have I done? I quickly looked back down to study her face. Yes, it definitely was her. The blue lighting was confusing but even then I could tell she was pale with long dark hair. No, I told myself. It’s red…an unusual colour, but stunning. And her name is Flo. At least I remember that much. I also remembered her laugh, infectious and excitable. She was deep asleep but had two little frown-lines between her eyebrows. Without her sarcastic comments and comic facial expressions she didn’t look much older than sixteen. Hang on… how old is she? What if… no, I can’t have… can I? A little voice interrupted my thoughts, nagging at the back of my mind ‘you don’t remember much do you? For all you know she might be underage and you might have used her. Do you think you’ll go to court?’ God, I can’t deal with this….she doesn’t deserve this… what can I do?

“Louis? Louis are you there?!” I tried to whisper but panic and the after effects of alcohol had other ideas. “Louis… Please!”

A low groan came from the couch and Louis’ scraggly head poked over the back.

“…hmmm…?”

“Louis! Lou what’s going on? Why is Flo…? I mean, did I do anything to her?! Fuck! If I did… ugh, I am a world class arsehole.”

“Chill Hazza, I wouldn’t let it go that far, besides, her friend looked out for her.”

“Thank God! I thought I might have…never mind.” I relaxed and let my head flop back onto the bed. Even that small movement rattled my brains and sent jitters down my neck. I was going to have one hell of a hangover. I moaned softly but Louis just laughed, he didn’t usually give sympathy for self-inflicted pain, and this was no exception.

“Lou…you know haw amazing you are…?”

“I know that tone, what do you want?” he pretended to sound stern but I could hear his smile in his voice. I lifted my head slightly, enough for him to see my smile (and my dimples),

“Would you get me some coffee?”

“Why don’t you get it yourself? The kitchen is only about three meters away.”

“Please? My head really hurts! Besides I have a girl sleeping on my chest.” I only had to give him my puppy dog eyes for a record 7 seconds before he sighed and slowly got up after shifting something off his lap.

“What was that Lou?”

“That? She is Flo’s friend, Marnie… and a lot more sensible than your new girlfriend by the looks of things.” With that he left through the kitchen door, laughing to himself. This time I lowered my head slowly back onto the bed, thinking about the situation, or more accurately, Flo. She had been great fun to be round, not hilarious like Louis but sarcastic and her jokes had been so bad they were good. She didn’t seem to mind making a fool of herself in public either, although that may have been the shots. I looked down into her face. She looked young and very tired, with purple bags under her eyes, but she still managed to look pretty, in an unusual way. More surprisingly, she was tiny. She couldn’t have been much more than five feet and she was skinny too; however she seemed solid and a comfortable weight on top of me. With her pale skin and red curls she looked a bit like an elf, I was pretty sure she wouldn’t have been out of place in a lord of the rings movie. She let out a little huff of breath. Great. She even managed to make that cute. Her breath held a tinge of vodka left over from the party, but mixed with her flowery perfume, it just smelled exciting. This is bad. I shouldn’t have feelings for this girl…but I do, so what are my options?

Louis banged the coffee filter next door and Flo made a little sound of protest and wriggled closer, yawning into my shoulder. She then mumbled something in her sleep,

“I guess we’re not in Kansas anymore Toto.”

What the hell? I didn’t have time to pull back to get a good look at her face again before her head popped up, eyes open. Shit, she was awake. She took one look at me with her wide eyed gaze and swiftly rolled off my chest and onto the floor with a graceful thud.
