Chapter 6 Silas
Bootcamp week 1 (Begins June 12th)
A rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat noise woke me from sleep. It was a steady jackhammer rhythm, yet not nearly as loud. I groaned as I stretched my back in an arch like a cat.
Silas's husky sleepy voice called out, "Aggele. What do you call a woodpecker without a beak?"
I realized the sound that I was hearing was a woodpecker in the nearby forest. But I was tired and I gave Silas a snarky reply, "quiet?"
He laughed and pulled me into a bone crushing hug, "Yes. That's true. But, for the sake of my ego, let me finish the punchline of my joke."
He let go of me and I looked up into his deep set, dark eyes. "Sorry Superman. What do you call a woodpecker without a beak?"
"A head banger!" I covered my eyes and giggled softly.
Silas lightly spanked my butt, "Let's get up. It's almost time anyway."
I was changing into my black shorts and light pink t-shirt before breakfast when I shrieked with terror, throwing my shirt in the air and covered my ears. A loudspeaker just outside our cabin window blared the bugle reveille to call everyone to breakfast.
Silas chuckled behind me and slipped my shirt over my head. "You'll get use to it, Aggele. Now, put your shoes on and let's get going. It's grub time." While I slipped my feet in my shoes, Silas's stomach growled loudly as if responding to the bugle call.
I giggled, "Time to feed the beast." I rubbed his stomach and took a moment to admire the ridges and valleys of his abs. His stomach flexed and rippled under my exploring fingers.
I stopped myself before I got too lost in the moment, shaking my head to clear out the cobwebs. Food. Eat. Day 1 at Bootcamp. Right.
"As much fun as that moment we just had was, we have to respond to first call." He gripped my hand firmly in his and pulled me out the door. "Besides, we still have time for you to grope me later." He winked at me as we hurried to the mess hall.
My cheeks turned pink due to his comment, but if he only knew the thought that flit through my brain... 'I will be holding you to that statement.' But of course, I could never, in a million years, actually voice that thought. Instead I bit my lip and suppressed the images that flipped through my mind of groping my man.
After a very filling breakfast of fruit, grits and scrambled eggs, we had morning calisthenics. Push-ups, jumping jacks, burpees, sit-ups, squats...repeat. I bet you can imagine what came of my large breakfast. If you guessed that I had a second viewing of my meal as it came back up, you hit the nail on the head. Ugh!
Silas rubbed my back and held my ponytail back while I expelled the contents of my stomach under the tree. I croaked out, "Remind me not to eat so much tomorrow."
Silas Replied quickly, "Tomorrow your body won't reject the food." I glared at him over my shoulder then stood up wiping my mouth with the back of my hand. He held his hands up in surrender, "I'm just stating the facts. You'll see." He handed me a cup of water to rinse my mouth out. I appreciated the gesture but wished I had even just a moment to go back to my cabin so I could brush my teeth.
Once I was done puking, as well as some of the other newbies, the camp leader, Sergeant Cane yelled, "Listen up, maggots! I want two lines, nut to butt! We are running in time." I looked to Silas for clarification. He pulled me into the line in front of him. I was so close to the guy in front of me, I could smell his overuse of his Axe body spray mingled with body odor from our exercises so far. The smell was so strong and overpowering, I sneezed to clear my nasal passages. Then I sneezed again. Sergeant Cane stomped toward me and I could feel Silas stiffen behind me. "YOU! Sneezy Barbie! Front of the line!" Silas kept my back pressed to his front as he quickly moved us to the front of the line. "I didn't tell you to move, Hulk. Just Sneezy Barbie." Sergeant Cane did not sound amused. I worried my lip that he would punish Silas.
