HONK! HONK! The startling sound of a car horn woke me. Crap! I think, I've over slept! I quickly hop out of my nice, warm bed, pull on the outfit that thankfully I put out for me to wear last night. I quickly brush my teeth and tame my long blonde hair, grab my backpack and run down the stairs to the front door. Well that was my plan anyway. My mother just had to stop me.

"Sophie! Is that Mary outside who keeps honking? That girl is so impatient. I don't know how you can put up with that girl."

You see my mom and I don't get along very well. She doesn't understand me and doesn't like my choice in... well pretty much everything. "Yes, mom it's Mary, and no she isn't impatient she just doesn't want to be late to school, again." I reply defending my precious friend. "Shall I tell her you say hello?" I ask knowing it will aggravate her.

"Goodness no! Why would you think that I would want to say hello to Susan Hale's daughter? Don't even make me start Sophie, on that woman and her daughter! My time is used better when I'm not thinking about that dreadful family!" My mother practically wailed as she said this. I tried to hold in my laughter. You see Mary's mom Susan Hale beat my mom as prom queen in high school and every time it gets brought up my mother talks about how Susan must have cheated. But we all know that Susan Hale isn't the type of girl to cheat.

"Ok mom well I got to go to school now." I say desperately trying to escape my mother's clutches as she was now begging to tell the story I've heard so many times over the years of Susan Hale cheating and winning prom queen.

"Ok, well aren't you going to eat anything?"

"Mary always gives me an apple or something." I yell as I quickly walk out the door. I hurry to Mary's car, yes her car not her mom's or any other family members, her brand stinking new convertible. See this is just one example of how awesome Susan Hale is. She is like a second mom to me, she even asks me to call her mom or Susan whenever I call her Mrs Hale. "Hey girls," I greet Mary, Carrie, Jane, and Lizzie. I got greeted back with a unison of hey Sophie.

"Oh no! Guys, Sophie has the look," exclaimed Carrie from the back seat. The girls examine me as I glare back at them.

"What look?" I ask even though I know perfectly well what look of mine they are talking about.

"The I just had an unwanted run in with my mother look," said Lizzie looking at me and speaking to me like I'm stupid. The others nod in agreement, Jane more enthusiastically to where if you didn't know her you would think that she was head banging to some rock song.

"Ok, ok. Yes, I did have a unwanted run in with the wicked witch of east Texas." The girls laugh and give me their sympathy. Then of course Lizzie starts to do her impression of my mother.

"Well Sophie I just don't understand why you hang out with those horrible churlish girls! Especially little miss Mary Hale daughter of the horrible cheater Susan Hale! Have I ever told you about how she cheated and became prom queen when it should have been me?"

"Guys can we please talk about something else? I feel bad talking about Mrs Bennett behind her back. It doesn't feel right or good." Asked sweet Mary.

"Well why not? She has never done anything but being horrible and rude to you. What do you owe her? Nothing!" I exclaim.

"That maybe true, but that doesn't mean that I have to do the same thing to her. I can and should be the bigger person. Plus she really wanted that crown."

"Oh sweet and innocent Mary, you are too nice. Do you know that? My mother has no right to treat you like this and yes she did want to be crowned prom queen, and it didn't happen. It's been years since then, she still shouldn't be holding a grudge and telling lies about your mom and family." The girls nod and say yeah in agreement with me. Mary just smiles.

"Can we please just change the subject?" She asks. The car goes silent to her request. "Hey, I said let's drop the subject not communication."

"So... Carrie how are you and James?" I ask my friend about her boyfriend of 3 months. Carrie of course blushed at the mention of James. Jane pinches Carrie's cheeks 'awww'ing. We laugh at Carrie's embarrassment and Jane's silly, playful ways.

"He is great! He actually asked me to wear his jersey at his next football game." Carrie starts to blush even harder, if that's even possible. "Thank you so much again Sophie for getting us together." That's right I'm kind of Jackson highs match maker but I'm more commonly known as Cupid's assistant.

"Awww that's so cute and sweet I knew that he was a good match for you, and seriously stop thanking me! It's the least I could do for you, plus you seriously had to stop living through everyone else's love life." I reply back with a smirk which earned me a slap on the back of the head.

"Who would have thought that the quarterback of a football team would be so sweet and would date a girl like me. I mean I'm not pretty or anything special and I'm definitely not a cheerleader or any of those other girls that football players usually go for." Said Carrie in a soft voice.

"Number one I totally did. Number two yes you are pretty and special. Number three no you are not like the girls that the stereotypical football players would date and that is good because they are sluts. Number four James isn't like the stereotypical football player so don't worry about it." I say in a firm voice. "You Carrie Foster are an amazing girl and we are so glad that you are in our lives." At that Carrie had tears running down her eyes.

" Thanks Sophie. I love you. I love all of y'all." Carrie sobs out. We all say that we love her back, as Mary pulls into Jackson High school's parking lot.

"Now girl you better stop crying because I see James over there, and if he sees that you are crying I'm pretty sure that the world would end. SO GET YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN!" She laughs at me as she wipes away her tears and gets out of the car and runs to James. James picks her up and spins her around and then they share a passionate kiss.

"Would you just look at that our little Carrie is all grown up." Sighs Jane with her lip quivering pretending that she is about to start crying, as we all get out of the car.

"What are you talking about Jane? 'our little Carrie,' she is older than you. In fact you are the youngest in our group." Lizzie points out. Jane just sticks her tongue out at Lizzie. "You also act like the youngest and most immature." Lizzie says, now this remark made Jane kick Lizzie who jumped out of the way of her foot. Which made Jane kick Jacob one of our guy friends in the shin.

"Hey, that hurt! Why you gotta do that to me? Jane I thought that we were friends and then you go and kick me!" Jacob fakes being hurt with his hand over his chest. His girlfriend Alana (yes, I got them together) comes up and gives Jacob a kiss hello. Jacob smiles and tries to pull her closer for a longer kiss but she pulls away.

"Are you touring these girls again?" She asks her boyfriend who stands there in shock for a second then starts to sputter. We laugh at him and say hi to Alana. "Hello Jane, Lizzie, Sophie, Mary. Where is Carrie?" We point to where James now has Carrie pinned to a tree. We laughed at the couple who looked like they haven't seen each other in 6 months but in reality it was less than 24 hours.

"So Jman what's been up with you lately?" Mary asks Jacob who was still mopping from not getting a longer kiss from Alana. "How's are your parents? I haven't seen them in a while."

Jacob grunts, "they are in good health if that's what you mean, even though I still think that they are going to die soon because of how full of shit they are."

You see Jacob doesn't get along with his parents very well. It's one of the things that we have in common, except he doesn't get along with both of his parents were as I don't get along with my mother but I am very close to my father but I rarely ever see him.

"LANGUAGE!" Shouts Jane. Who is still bothered by cuss words even though you would think that she would be used to it by now considering that we all curse. But no she still refuses to cuss and yells 'language' every time we curse.

"It's so hot out here," complained Alana.

"Sweetie it's Texas what do you expect?" I ask her, she points in response. We then decided to go inside the school and get ready for 7 hours of boring teachers standing in front of the class talking in a monotone voice while attempting to teach us, but end up confusing us even more.
