I awoke by the sound of the chirping birds, I roll over and look at the clock. I should probably get up now but I don't wanna, I want to sleep and stay in my comfy bed. I don't want to go to school today. But I must and if I don't get up soon either Hannah or Simon will come in here and start to jump on my bed.
I get up and change into a pair of jeans and a loose t-shirt with my hair up in a ponytail because I'm too lazy to look nice and make an effort. I walk downstairs and find Simon eating cereal and Hannah struggling with her makeup. I walk over to them and pour myself a bowl of cereal and a glass of milk.
"Hey thanks for telling me that Simon is staying with us." Hannah says to me in fake annoyance.
"Your very welcome," I say and she gives me a sarcastic look. "I would have told you but with everything going on last night I forgot to mention it."
"Hey! Why do you eat your cereal dry? That's not how your supposed to eat cereal!" Simon says looking bothered by the fact that I eat my cereal dry.
"Well I like my cereal dry so that's how I eat it." I say back to him and he was about to say something back but Hannah groaned loudly cutting him off. We turn to her to see that she was grumbling at her eyeliner.
"Here let me do it," I say as I walk over to her holding out my hand for her to put the eyeliner in. She did and I went right to work. When I was finished I dragged her to the mirror, she gasped when she saw it.
"This is way better then what I could ever do. I really got to let you do my make up more often." I laugh and say that I will.
Together we walk back into the kitchen, put away our dishes and got our backpacks. Simon was already in the car waiting for us, I called shotgun and got into the passenger seat. Hannah groaned and got in the back of the car. A few minutes after we pulled out of the driveway Hannah's phone started to ring. She pulled it out of her pocket and checked the caller ID.
"Who is it," I ask looking back. She lifts her phone up for me to see. Mom. That's what the phone said. "Don't answer it." I order Hannah.
"But Sophie..."
"No buts Hannah just don't do it."
But does my sister listen to me? No! She pressed answer and put it up to her ear. "Hello," she says into the phone.
We wait a minute and Hannah replies to what ever mom is saying with a no. Mom talks again and I still couldn't hear her. Hannah replies to mom saying, "I'm very certain that she didn't and won't forget. She has a really good memory."
There is some more silence then we hear Hannah say, "Mom she is just having a rough time right now. I don't think that what she said or did could be that bad. Plus even if you did ground her and send her friends away, father wouldn't let you. He would just unground her."
More silence, "Mom, don't be so dramatic it isn't like that. Oh and btw Simon, you know Simon Sophie's friends, is going to be staying with us for a while. Dad already said yes and things have been arranged."
More silence, "I am sure that it will be fine mom, if you don't remember Gretchen, Sophie, and Simon were playmates, She babysat them and I. I am certain that she would be happy to see him again and could make an extra spot for him at the wedding. I have to go, I'll talk to you later. Bye." She finally hangs up.
"Let me guess," I say about to guess everything that my mom just said to my sister over the phone. "She asked if I was with you and you being the best little sister that you are told her that I wasn't. Then she told you to remind me about Gretchen's wedding and you told her that I won't forget. Then she told you in her point of view meaning more dramatic and added bits on to what I said to her last night and threatened to ground me. You being you stood up for me and said that when dad got home he would just unground me. After that she said something about dad being a sucker for me and being a good for nothing lazy bum that doesn't know discipline. You then said that she is being dramatic and over reacting then before she could say anything back about it you changed the subject to Si staying with us. She then complained about that being a great inconvenience especially when it came to Gretchen's wedding. You then said that he would be no inconvenience to us and Gretchen. Then you faked that you had to go and hung up."
"It is incredible that you know mom that well, everything that you said was spot on." Hannah said in complete shock.
"Well you know what they say, know your enemies every move, tactics, and way."
"Ok, I hope you know that in a way you kind of just sounded like her," Hannah said.
"What I do not! How could you even come up with such a thing to say?"
"You like her can be overly overdramatic. I mean come on Sophie she isn't your enemy she is your mother, just because y'all don't get along doesn't mean that she has to be your enemy."
"I have to agree with Hannah on this subject Soph." Simon said now speaking up. I snap my head back to were he was sitting.
"Si your supposed to be on my side!" I whine and pout crossing my arms around my chest.
"I am on your side! You know that it is true but you just don't want to admit it." He said and I huffed and sat there quietly until we got to school. I saw Peter approaching Mary when I got out of the car. I smile at the scene and walk over to Jane.
Jane and I start to talk then all of a sudden we see Jacob and Simon running towards us. Jacob was holding a piece of paper above his head waving it around. When they finally reach us they stop and bend over putting their hands on their knees trying to catch their breath.
"Whoa! Jman. Si. Where is the fire," I ask them in a teasing and curious voice.
Jacob hands me the piece of paper and I look at it.
TRY OUTS FOR JACKSON HIGHS SPRING MUSICAL "RENT" IS ON FRIDAY RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL. COME TO THE AUDITORIUM WITH A PREPARED SONG. GOOD LUCK!
"No! No! Absolutely not! Boys I'm not going to do this I will not go up there on that stage and make a fool of myself." I say crumbling up the piece of paper and shoving it in my backpack.
"Oh come on why not? You are a great singer! Everyone at Sally's cafe thought so last night. Come on at least try out." Jacob starts to beg and protest Simon standing next to him was nodding enthusiastically. Even Jane was telling me that I should at least try out.
"Fine I'll think about it," I say and they start to cheer. "I didn't say that I would do it. I said that I will think about it." They frowned but I could tell that they were still glad that I was at least going to think about it. With that we walk into the school and separated to go to our lockers and classes.
