After our encounter with the patrol boats, we proceeded out of the area. Try as I might, I couldn’t get what the former captain said out of my head. What if he was right? What chance did a small group of teenagers have against an army of millions? No matter how I looked at it, our chances didn’t look so good.
From Midway, we sailed north towards the Aleutian Islands. Along the way we dropped stopped off at a deserted island and unloaded the prisoners. We left them a couple of guns, some water and a few knives. Their was plenty of wildlife on the island so we weren’t too concerned about their chances of survival. Even with that fact in mind they weren’t too happy about their situation and enjoyed themselves by grumbling insults at us as we took them ashore.
The island was large enough that we figured we could probably come back to deposit more prisoners if necessary. We made a note of it’s location in the map room on one of the charts. We continued to head north. On the radar we could see that we where being followed. It looked like mostly light craft for the most part. However every now and then something huge would show up on the edge of the screens. Whatever it was it was larger than any ship or aircraft that we knew of. It would only be there for less than a minute before it slipped off the edge of the screen. We didn’t dare send out any UAVs to investigate.
However with the lack of action we became bored. The routine training sessions weren’t enough to keep us to occupied and even the gaming system that John had taken from the camper didn’t help. We needed a ship to raid.
