Trouble?

"Mom?" Maine asked to the person on the other line.

"O, anak? Haha, why do you sound so surprised to hear from me?" Her mother chuckled. She, on the other hand was panicking. She moved inside the house and left Richard with the kids outside.

"No, no. It's not like that. It's just that... ang tagal mo na kasing hindi tumatawag. Haha." She let out a fake laugh to shield her true emotions to her mother.

"Sabagay nga naman. How are you, hija?" She asked. Maine looked around for a little while before she answered.

"Okay lang naman po. Um, mom? Bakit po kayo napatawag?" She asked.

"Ikaw talaga. I just wanted to know how you were and the kids as well. Tsaka nga pala, hija, we are going to visit. Nandiyan ba kayo sa bahay?" Mary Ann replied.

"Ah wala po, ma. Me and the kids are on an outing. Baka bukas pa kami makabalik." Maine explained.

"Okay, okay. We'll just visit you tomorrow. Stay safe. Bye." 

Maine turned off the phone and walked back outside to join the kids and Richard.

After lunch, the both of them decided to talk while the kids took a nap.

"Chard, pupunta daw si mom bukas." Maine said as she looked up at him.

"Hindi ba niya alam na nagkabalikan tayo?" He asked. Maine slowly shook her head and explained.

"Eh, Chard, alam mo naman si mom diba? Galit nga yun sa'yo." Maine said.

"Okay. We'll just tell her... soon."

"Okay. Can I take a nap muna?" She asked with her puppy dog eyes that he could not resist.

"Osige." He replied with a smile on his face. Maine snuggled closer to him and closed her eyes. The wind from the open window of the room hitting her face.

She fell asleep after a few minutes, and Richard followed as well. This was the one thing they could do peacefully, before Maine's parents know about them.
