Skipper ran up the wall with Kipper; Piflin flying next to them. Starlin carried the paladins over the wall and met them in a secluded spot of the courtyard garden, which included large neon bushes.
"I still don't get why a child is here", Kipper admitted once he returned to physical form. The male twin looked at the grinning six year-old.
"He's proven that he is useful", Starlin told him, "Never underestimate a hybrid. It could cost you your life."
"Especially Azalea", Skipper added.
Starlin turned to face the castle.
"Exactly. She has lost all connection with her human side, leaving her extremely volatile. Azalea can sense where we are in the castle at all times, so it's best if we avoid her.""When we head in, we'll have to spilt up"- Kipper began drawing a plan into the dirt- "I'll go solo. Starlin and Lance will have to take out any guards lingering in the castle halls. Hunk and Skipper will go stop that gladiator fight, and I'll be there to join them after scoping out and helping Starlin."
"We'll need a good distraction", Lance inquired.
"But who?"
Everyone's eyes fell on the young Prince.
"He hasn't learned to control himself yet", Hunk argued, "How would he be a distraction?"
Skipper knelt down to the boy. She met Piflin's gaze.
"In my observations", the female twin noted, "Piflin isn't fueled by pure rage. The peak of his strengths is triggered by emotional distress."
"What?", Piflin asked curiously.
Starlin told the boy to lie down on the ground and close his eyes. The princess looked at everyone sternly, one by one.
"Does everyone know the plan?"They all nodded.
Starlin burned her hands.
"Everyone-", she ordered, "Think of your least favorite memories. Haunting ones."
Piflin whimpered from his position on the ground, but kept his eyes tightly shut.
"Move out!", Kipper barked.
He disappeared into the shadows, and Skipper and Hunk ran away behind the castle.Starlin sighed. Lance patted her shoulder reassuringly.
I'm sorry you have to see this, Pif.

Piflin opened his eyes.
He found himself in a dark room.
It was so dark.
So cold.
The walls seemed to press in on him.
The suffocating loneliness surrounded all sides of him.
A small whimper could be heard in the corner, and miraculously, Piflin could see her.
Skinny, frail, with dark circles around her eyes like saucers. She clawed aimlessly at the metal encasing her hands.
He recognized her immediately.
"I k-killed her", young Azalea sobbed. She rocked herself back and forth, scratching and drawing blood all along her arms.
"I'm s-sorry Marina...""Azalea?...", Piflin echoed softly.
His small hand reached out for her, but as soon as he made contact with her skin, the setting changed."I will not be in your shadow!", someone shouted.
Something flew past Piflin and slammed into the wall behind him.
