After first period ended, Ava was out of the class before I could get to her. The whole day she managed to avoid me even when we were in class. During lunch, I didn't see her with her friends but they didn't seem to notice. Either that or they knew were she was at. I shook my head. That girl is driving me insane.
Suddenly I was clutching my nose as absolute pain pierced through my face leading straight to my nose. I can feel blood trickling down my nose as I groaned. I looked up and saw Patrick standing with his friends laughing at me.
I slammed my hands against the lunch table and stood up, ready to kill somebody.
Jake immediately grabbed ahold of my shoulders and shove me down hard onto the bench. I shoved him off and was just about to run to the idiots that was the cause of my nose being possibly broken when a soft body leaned against my back and a pair of arms wrapped around my waist.
"Don't. Just sit." Ava's voice spoke softly into my ear after she nudged me back onto the bench. She laid her chin upon my shoulder and leaned her head against mine.
I turned and saw Derrick arguing with Patrick. I can tell Derrick was so close to breaking his face with his fist when Patrick turned towards my way and suddenly stiffened. I saw him look at Ava, then he shifted his eyes to our position and his eyes widened further. I swear I saw fear flash in his eyes before it was replaced with nervousness. It's like he didn't even notice Derrick screaming at him. He started walking our way and I frowned.
"What is he doing?"
I turned my head slightly to her and murmured, "he's walking our way. He looks like he's about to drop dead onto the floor the closer he gets to us."
She softly laughed, "just don't say anything. Go with whatever he says."
Patrick finally reached us and he scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Uhm, hey Ava."
She nodded coldly, "Patrick. What did you do?"
"I- well I didn't- I swear it was just- we were playing ball and..." He stuttered, not knowing what to say."
I felt Ava nuzzle into my neck and I tried to suppress a shiver. What the fuck is she doing?
"I'm sorry, Patrick but I'm afraid I do not understand what it is you're trying to say."
He took a deep breath and exhaled, looking resigned. "I was stupid, I'm sorry. I didn't know you guys were together."
I opened my mouth to correct him when her grip tightened around my waist.
"What difference does it make if we are together or not?"
He stumbled with his words, "nothing, I swear I didn't mean to- it was an accident. I didn't mean to throw the ball at him!"
She hummed, "so you accidentally threw a ball at him and then decided it was funny to laugh? What if you killed him?"
He looked at her like she had grown two heads, "what? Killed him? It's just a foot ball!"
She laughed, the sound sending cold shivers down my spine. It was a chilling a sound, something no one would ever hear without feeling fear. "Yes, it is just a foot ball but did you know that the bones in your nose are small that if you manage to hit it the right way, it could shoot right up into your brain and BAM! You're dead..."
I wrapped my hand around hers that were still wrapped around my waist.
He stared at her, speechless.
Suddenly, she stood up straight and started walking towards him. Everyone around was quiet, just watching her as she circled him. If you were a stranger looking at the two of them, you would've thought she was observing him and he was waiting for some kind of punishment.
"Patrick," she leaned towards him when she was stood in front of him.
"Y-yeah?"
"If I hear that you did something stupid again, what I have against you will be nothing compared to what I'll do to you." Her cold voice said slowly but clearly, then she turned and walked away
I was surprised that he just turned and walked to his friends.
"Mahn, why didn't you show her who's boss?! She's nothing but a blind girl who wants attention. I wouldn't be surprised if she was a whore selling herself to any desperate guy." Kyle, the stupid but biggest manwhore in the school, said loudly as he teased Patrick for being a wimp.
Ava stopped and slowly turned back to the black-haired boy, "what did you just say?"
He sneered at her, "you heard me, little girl. You're nothing but a pathetic, attention seeking whore."
She chuckled, "oh yes, I guess I am, aren't I?"
The scary part wasn't the fact that she turned away and walked back towards me. It was the cold smirk placed on her lips that told everyone that Kyle Jenkins is a dead man. Patrick quickly punched Kyle on the arm to shut him up when he saw he was about to say a snarky comment. Him and his friends walked out of the cafeteria doors.
She turned around, making it look like she was looking at everyone. "What? Did you want something?"
Everyone quickly turned back to what they were doing, trying not to piss her off even further. Even the barbies kept their comments to themselves, seeing that Ava was clearly not in the mood for their bullshit.
"Dude, that was pretty hot, right?" Jake whispered, grinning widely at my right.
I shook my head at him, this freaking dumbass...
Ava sat down next to me and I looked at her. She looked calm, like she wasn't just called a whore in front of nearly the whole school.
"You okay?"
She shrugged, "why wouldn't I be?"
"Uhh," I looked around and waved to her friends to come over as Derrick sat across from her, "I was just asking. He's such a dick."
"Yeah I know but so are you and most other guys with a big ego."
"Hey," Derrick protested, "what did I do?"
"What? I said most other guys, I didn't mention names."
I rolled my eyes. There she is. "Aren't you a ray of sunshine..."
She smiled, "thank you! That's the first nice thing you've ever said to me."
I opened my mouth to say something when I was cut off.
"Hey, Ava, what did the idiot do now?" Hailee asked as she sat down across from me next to Derrick.
"Nothing, he still hasn't learned how to keep his mouth shut but it's okay, he'll learn," she had a subtle smile on her face which made me want to warn Kyle to run as fast and as far away as possible, but from what they said, it's not the first time this happened. He dug his own grave. Let him lay in it.
A/N: sorry for any mistakes!
