After my major meltdown, Brandon would hang out with me every night and we would talk about everything. When I cried he would hold me, letting me get it out. After that night he did truly become my best friend.
I couldn't even imagine him not being part of my life now. Beyond the tough exterior was this big softie that I got to see and I was glad. He also became super protective of me shielding me at school for the rest of the week.
Summer break came and it meant one thing, slumber party with the girls. We were all camped in the living room until we got some party crashers namely the guys. Figures. The one sacred thing and the guys have to crash it.
Good thing my parents were home to keep an eye on things. We all sat around playing board games and munching on snacks.
"How are you doing Allie?" Megan asked.
"Taking it day by day," I sighed.
"It'll get better babes," reassured Sasha.
"I hope so. I just hate feeling like this."
"Like what?" Asked Megan.
"Lost. A whole year went leaving me completely lost."
The guys listen to us talk.
"But it won't always be that way," said Sasha.
"My head says the same thing but my heart feels differently. I'm not even sure it'll be whole again."
"Maybe it will, you never know," smiled Megan.
"Oh, Megs that's what I love about you. Always looking on the bright side of things," I said giving her a hug.
"Don't forget me," whined Sasha jumping into our hug. I had the best friends in the world. I hadn't realized I was laughing and smiling and didn't notice Brandon looking at me smiling.
"Okay, whose turn is it next?" I asked as we went back to our game. As we were playing I heard a knock at the door.
"Allie gets the door," Austin said.
"Why don't you get the door?" I asked him.
"Just get the door. You're closer."
"Fine," I said in a huff as I got up to answer the door. Standing at the door was a delivery man holding a dozen roses with a note.
"Allison Maddox?"
"Yes?"
"Sign here please," he said handing me a clipboard. I signed and took the roses and not closing the door behind me.
"Dad," I yelled.
My dad appeared in the living room with my mom, "Yes angel?"
"Was this your idea?" I asked showing him the roses.
He looked at me and at my mom, "Jake?"
"No, I swear it wasn't me," he said looking at my mom innocently.
"Open the note, Allie," Austin said.
I set the roses down and opened the note reading it aloud.
My Dearest Allie,
I know you're going through a hard time right now but this heartbreak is temporary. It won't last I promise. I'm sending these roses to show you how beautiful real love can be. Please don't close your heart off, it deserves someone to love it as I love you.
Sincerely
Your secret admirerI looked up, "I have a secret admirer?"
The girl's got up and looked at the note again. Sasha looked at me, "Apparently not just a secret admirer but he loves you too."
