Date night

I finished getting ready and everything set up with the help of Mom, Brandon, and Austin. I just hope he likes it. I came down all dressed up and dad was sitting in a chair reading. He put his paper down and looked at me.

He let out a whistle, "Wow someone looks beautiful. Brandon is a lucky guy. Where are you two going tonight?"

"I'm not going out with Brandon. I'm going out with someone very special to me."

Dad stood up and looked at me confused, "Hunny, Brandon loves you very much. Are you sure you want to do this to him?"

"Dad it's okay. He knows."

"He does?"

"Yes, in fact, he helped me with tonight."

He gave me a confused look as I walked over to him and took his hand, "The man I'm going out with tonight is you."

He stared at me.

"I figure why not go out with the first man who ever loved me," I said casually.

"But I'm not dressed."

"It's okay. Tonight is just you and me."

He smiled and grabbed his keys and jacket and we were off. We went to a restaurant and had dinner and talked then went to the movies and saw a romantic comedy. I know it sounds weird but dad is the biggest romantic at heart. He is Cupid Valentine after all.

After our evening out we agreed once a week we would spend time one on one with each other. When we got home I gave him a hug and whispered in his ear, "Tonight was the best night. I love you, dad."

I ran upstairs and mom was leaning against the doorway, "How was your night?"

"Perfect. Be right back," he said leaving.

"Where are you going?" She asked but the door had already closed.

Dad knocked on a door and Mikey answered it, "Jake? What's up?"

"Is Brandon here?"

"Yeah, come in and I'll call him down. Hey Bran! Jake's here to see you!"

Brandon hobbled downstairs and over to dad.

"What's up, Jake?"

Dad pulled him into a hug and hugged him tightly, "Thank you, Brandon."

Dad pulled back and was crying. Brandon looked at him a bit confused, "For what?"

"For tonight, Allie told me what you said to her. I was worried that when a man came into her life she would forget about me."

"Jake you're her dad. You were the first man to love her. I'm hoping I get to be the last."

"If I have my way you will be. You have mine and her mother's blessing."

Mikey and Maddie walked over and Mikey asked, "Jake did you just give Brandon your blessing for him to ask for her hand?"

He looked at Mikey, "He asked me and Marley but I told him no at the time. I wanted to make sure he wouldn't break her heart. Tonight he earned our yes."

Mikey looked at him, "When did you ask him?"

Brandon looked at him, "After she agreed to be my girlfriend."

His parents looked at him shocked.

"Don't worry I plan on giving her a promise ring first then later on asking her to marry me. I may be impulsive but I'm not crazy. I know we're still in high school."
