We sat on the couch as our parents talked to us and set some ground rules. Apparently, we were going to be watched like hawks since they were basing their experiences on when they were younger. They do realize we are nothing like them?
After a long lecture, we fell asleep on the couch until they woke us up making us go to our prospective rooms meaning m in mine and Brandon in his own house. Dad even removed the ladder from my window even though Brandon has climbed through my window countless times.
Eventually, mom persuaded him to return the ladder and that I was a good girl and nothing would happen. Go, mom! Plus I wasn't ready for any of that yet. Brandon and I had just agreed to a date or better yet I agreed to be his girlfriend. I'm still trying to figure that one out.
I was laying on my bed when I heard a tap on my window sill. I got up and walked over to it and sat on the bench next to it.
"Hi," Brandon greeted me.
"Hey, what are doing?" I asked him.
"Thought you may want to go for a ride."
"I thought your bike got taken away?"
"I got it back a week early. What do you say?"
"Okay." I threw on some shoes and my hoodie climbing out after him. I hopped on the back of it wrapping my arms around his back tightly. He revved the engine and we were off.
Mom came downstairs to find dad sitting at the table reading the paper drinking a cup of coffee, "Was that Brandon's bike?"
"Yep."
"Allie with him?"
"Yep."
"And you're not freaking out?"
"No, yes, I don't know."
"Oh hunny, she'll be fine."
He pulled her onto his lap, "I can't help it. She's my baby."
"I know but sometimes we have to let her grow up."
"I know and that's the hardest part."
"No, the hardest part is letting another man love her."
"How did I manage to find someone so smart?"
"Easy you took a risk Cupid." He leaned over and gave her a kiss.

The engine roared as we traveled the open road. I felt the wind in my face as I kept my hands around his waist. He pulled into our spot and parked the bike turning off the engine. He turned around on the bike facing me and put his hands on my face pulling me into a kiss which sent shivers all over my body making butterflies form in my stomach.
I moved my hands to his back as he kissed me. I felt his lips slightly part revealing his tongue wanting access and my lips parted allowing his tongue into my mouth swirling with mine fighting for dominance. The kiss was so intense and passionate. I moved my hands to his arms and could feel his muscles all through them.
He finally pulled back looking at me dropping his hands to my hands and pulling them down. I looked at him confused, "Did I do something wrong?"
He looked at me, "No."
"I'm really confused right now. Do you think this is a mistake?" Please tell me it's not a mistake. I can't really deal with another heartbreak.
"What? No," he said emphatically.
"Then what is it?"
"Trust me I really want to keep kissing you but I don't want it getting too intense because I know you're not ready yet."
"Oh."
"Allie, I want it to happen when you're ready and I want to be your first and last love. Right now I want to take it slow if that's okay with you?"
"Really?" He nodded his head.
"I'd like that."
"Come on," he said getting off his bike and helping me off. He took my hand interlocking his fingers with mine. We went for a walk by the water and talked about everything.
We talked about things we did as kids and laughed how goofy we were.
"I still can't believe you pushed my head in the mud," he said.
"Well, you deserved it. You and Austin use to rip off my Barbie dolls heads and run them over with your remote control cars."
"My mom was so mad when I came home because I tracked mud through the house."
"Well, if it makes you feel better I got grounded for that."
"Good."
"Oh," I said when he stopped leaning in and giving me a kiss. He pulled back and I looked at him, "What?"
"Your lips taste like chocolate."
"Well, in that case," he said giving me a kiss. "Yours taste like strawberries."
"Great now I'm hungry."
He walked back towards his bike pulling me behind him. He got on and I hopped on, "Where are we going?"
"To get some ice cream," he said roaring the engine and heading down the road as I held on to him.
We pulled into an ice cream parlor and got off the bike. He took my hand walking into the ice cream parlor getting a one apiece. He got cookies and cream and I got a chocolate chip.
We found a bench and sat down. Even though it was fall, it was unseasonably warm. We ate ice cream and talked. I told him about when my parents went for ice cream and mom walked out.
"Man, Marley had a temper, didn't she?"
"Not really, she just hated drama. Dad tells me the romantic side but then mom tells everything else. They did have their ups and downs when they started dating. First, she had a crush then hated dad then found out his secret identity and finally fell in love with him."
"How did he manage to keep it all a secret for so long?"
"With a lot of creativity, the first time was at the masquerade ball, the second time was a Halloween party where he dressed as Zorro and confessed he loved her, another time was at a formal where he did actually take her then disappeared so he was partially hidden, then Santa Clause."
"What did he do as Santa?"
"He revealed that he was Cupid to her."
"Man, I thought it was hard enough doing what I did."
"Yeah, but dad was a whole different ballgame."
"I'm still glad I did it though."
"So am I," I smiled.
"Ready?"
"Yep."
We got back on the bike and headed home. My favorite place to be was on the bike with Brandon. Just the two of us letting the wind whip past us and the open road. It was the perfect moment.
We pulled up and we got off the bike and he gave me a kiss as I went inside.
*****
Nothing really changed with Brandon and me except the kissing and we held hands. We started as friends and that never changed. We went to dinner and out to the movies and still hung out with everyone with the exception he always had his arms around me which was perfectly fine by me. I felt safe when I was with him. Dad even gave him a break after seeing how he treated me.
He continued being romantic with me waking up to roses and breakfast in bed. I think dad was giving him pointers. We even had our chick flick marathon and eating ice cream out of the carton.
There was even a point he actually went to the store and picked up feminine products and lots of chocolates when it was that time of the month for me. I don't think dad even did that. Mom said he would just open the door and throw chocolate at her and close the door. Yeah, my parents are weird.
Overall I was incredibly happy. I just didn't know it was about to change.
