Hazel lay curled up next to Augustus. He stroked her hair, and she hugged him tighter.

"I love you, you know that?" Hazel looked up at him to see his reaction.

His eyes lit up. "Hazel Grace, I have known that before you did. There is no need to remind me." He gave her a sweet smile. Hazel sat up and pressed her lips to his. He pulled back. "But it's always fine to remind me that way." Hazel playfully hit him in the arm. He faked pain.

Her expression softened. "Do you think everyone- do you think they'll be okay?" Augustus's eyes shone with confidence.

"Hazel Grace, people are not the fragile beings you portray them to be. They will be fine, but you have certainly left your mark on them." He brushed her hair out of her face. "They won't forget you." Tears sprung to her eyes, but she blinked them away. She leaned up and kissed him. Their lips melted together, and Augustus pulled Hazel on top of him.

"Look at us," she marveled. "No more cancer. We're free." She smiled down at him. He looked amused.

Finally, he let out a light laugh. "Certainly took long enough." Hazel could only nod in agreement.
