My whole body ached. But I was alive. Somehow. I couldn't move. I called for help. But nobody... What was that?
I could hear a singing voice coming closer. It sounded like a... like a kid around my age. But what was a kid doing down here? It was uninhabited as far as I knew. I mean, I had heard the legends, but those were just legends. Weren't they?
The voice was getting closer and closer. I tried to open my eyes, but they felt sealed shut with something. Blood, I guessed, from the sticky feeling and the pain in my head above them.
There was a gasp, then two hands, so soft the felt like... like fur? touched my arms. Another gasp, and then I was being lifted. My arm was put around someone's neck. I groaned. It hurt so much. It felt like my arms and ribs were broken.
"Are...are you awake?" The voice sounded like a boy's.
I nodded as best I could, then yelped as pain washed over me again from the small movement.
"D...do you think you can walk? I can't carry you all the way home.."
I nodded again. It was my arms, ribs and head that hurt worst, my legs felt bruised, but usable.
I was being lifted again, placed on my feet, and an arm going around me and another grabbing my wrist, helping to support me. I wobbled for a moment, wincing in pain, but didn't fall.
Slowly, very slowly, the voice led me through some what I assumed to be caves from the echoing sounds surrounding us. The voice's arms felt as furry and soft as its hands, but I guessed they were just wearing a sweater or something else soft. It was cold down here with no sun.
Soon, the voice stopped. "Hold on, let me open the door. The voice let go of my arm and I began to sway. Just before I collapsed, the voice returned, grabbing my arms and helping to hold me up again. My head hurt so bad. I was feeling dizzy now. The floor felt like it was tilting wildly. The voice half carried-half dragged me forward.
"Mom! Mom! Come here! Quick! I found....Something!! They're hurt! Really bad! Come quick!"
My legs finally gave out, and I collapsed. The voice lowered me down against a wall. Before I lost conciousness, I heard a second voice, but I couldn't make out what it was saying. Then, everything was gone.

I was warm. Something soft was tucked around me, and I could hear a voice near by. "Please, can I go in? I want to see how they're doing." It was the voice that had found me yesterday. Slowly, I tried to open my eyes. The light was blinding and made my head throb. I groaned, and the voice gasped. "I think they're awake! Can I please go in?"
"I guess, my child. Just be quiet. They hurt their head and loud noises will hurt their head."
I heard the door open, and the soft padding of feet. I tried to open my eyes again, and quickly closed them again. The second time was no better. "Can..can you please lower the lights?"
"Sure. Is this better?"
I tried to open my eyes again. It was better now, much dimmer. I now saw I was in a small room with green walls and and a white door. The soft place I was lying was a small bed with a green and yellow blanket pulled over me. Next to my bed was a shape. As it came into focus, I saw....
A monster. It had long white ears and big green eyes. Its face was covered in white fur, and it had tiny white horns. Its face was almost like a goat, but softer, with a shorter snout, and rounded features.
I screamed. Or tried to. My voice was weak and barely any sound came out of my dry throat. This was not at all what I expected. I tried to push myself away from the creature before me.
"Oh! Oh no! What did I do?" The creature starts to panic. "Uhh...Uhh. calm down! I...I'm sorry!" Its eyes are very wide and panicked and its furry paws were waving in calming gestures.
I slowly relaxed, starting to feel bad for the creature, who looked close to tears. "I'm sorry," I rasped slowly, "I wasn't expecting you to be... you know..."
"A monster?"
"Yea."
"Are...Are you still afraid?"
"No.. Not any more. I was just startled, more than anything."
"Oh."
The monster looked calmer now. "Well, what's your name?"
"Chara."
"Chara, huh? That's a nice name. My name is Asriel Dreemurr."
I barely heard the last part, as I was slipping back into sleep, still tired from my ordeal.

***********************************
The next time I woke up, there were three monsters. The two bigger ones looked similar to Asriel, but older. One had shaggy golden hair and larger horns, but looked like a total softie, holding a small teacup in his large hands.
The other looked more female, with no horns, and wearing a long mix between royal robes and a dress. They were all talking in low voices. Asriel glanced at my bed, then jumped in excitement.
"Mom! Dad! Chara's awake!" They ran over to my bed and smiled. "You're finally awake again! You've been asleep for almost two days since we talked! These are my parents! That's my mom Toriel. She makes the best pie EVER!! And that's Asgore! He's my dad and also the king! He makes really good Golden Flower tea!"
I nodded drowsily. "Hi.. I'm.. Chara..."
"Well, howdy Chara. As Asriel told you, I'm Asgore."
"Hello, my child. I'm Toriel. Is there anything we can get for you?"
"Well... I'm kind of thirsty..."
Asgore gestured to another teacup on the stand next to the bed. "We thought you might be. That is why I made you a cup of tea. It has cooled enough that you should be able to drink it without difficulty."
I struggled to pick the teacup up with my less injured arm, and took a sip of the golden tea. As I slowly drank more, I looked around, able to take in more of my surroundings now that I was awake. Across the room from me was a small cot, also with a green and yellow blanket.
Stuffed animals adorned the room, along with picture frames containing photos of Asriel, Asgore, and Toriel. A lamp sat on a small table and a dresser was pressed against the wall.
Soon the tea was gone, and once again I was feeling drowsy. "Who's room is this?" I asked sleepily.
"It's mine. You're in my bed, but I don't care. I can sleep just as well in the cot! Plus, you're hurt! You need it more than me!"
I nodded slowly. "Thanks Asriel. For everything. And you too Mr. and Mrs. Dreemurr."
"Oh, it is no trouble my child! And please! Just call us Asgore and Toriel."
"Ok. I was almost asleep now. "I will, mom." Hardly registering what I had said, I once again fell asleep.
