Nicole's POV

After I could finally gather my senses I answered my phone. "H-hello?"

"Go to a place where no one can hear you," Nate's voice ordered. I walked into the game room and closed the door behind me.

"Nate I’m so glad you called!" i bolted the door to ensure no one comes in.

"Are you in a place where no one can hear us?"

"Yes, yes I am. But why-"

"You still want to prove that you wanted to avenge our parents' death and that this family means something to you?"

"Yes, I do. You know how badly, I even went to kill Dad's killer-,"

"So listen carefully." He wasn't even letting me finish my sentences. "You have to bring Chris, just Chris near the old church. Make sure that no one follows you."

"Are you going to kill him?" i asked. My voice was so small, I thought that Nate won't be able to hear me.

"Maybe." He took a while to answer that. "You remember Ryan, don't you?" The name sent chills down my spine and I gritted my teeth to control my emotions. Ryan was a person that i would love to forget. "Hello?" Nate asked again.

"Yes, i remember him," I found the courage to answer.

"Well, he's going to take over the pack. He's going to get us justice, Nicole. His pack will be in alliance with ours."

I couldn't believe Nate. He'll let a jerk like Ryan take over the pack? And how could he find Ryan reliable enough to get his help? "You trust him?" I asked.

"Why not? He was my best friend through high-school." He paused for a moment and then said, "And didn't you to have a thing too?"

"No!" I answered too quickly. Nate didn't know the complete story. Nobody did. Nobody knew the true Ryan James, no one except me. "I-I mean I was dating Joel that time. Please continue."

"So, are you in? Will you bring Chris there? Even if it costs you his, and your life after that? Are you ready to that for your family?"

His words buzzed again and again in my ear. Family comes first, that was my motto. That is my motto. But am I ready to give up my and Chris's life for that? Maybe they won't kill him, but then again who knew what could they do? Chris said he loves me and I felt something for him too. But was it enough to betray my brother. To stand in the a way of getting revenge for my parents. To finally give the pack a free life. Chris loves me, or does he actually? Maybe Chris did all this to keep our pack in line. After all association with a girl of another pack strengthened the ties, assured that you will not be killed, like they did at the times of kingdoms. And what had Chris done for me, in comparison to all that happiness that my parents gave all these years. They deserved a longer life. They were innocent and i will give them justice.

With tears in my eyes i finally muttered, "Yes, I’m in."

*****

"Chris!" I called for him. My legs were shaking hard as I did so. I found Chris in the kitchen, cooking something. He looked so handsome that it almost took my breath away. Concentrate, I thought to myself. I have to do this for my family. Chris is no innocent.

"Chris, I need you to take me somewhere," I said.

"And where might that be?" He asked without taking his eyes off the pan. he was angry, i could sense it.
