Nicole's POV
I had genuinely smiled after weeks, it seemed, when I saw Chris sleeping, with me in his arms. I could feel the happiness that I thought I'd never get after my parents had died. All because of this crazy, stupid love. The love of my life. There were thoughts, some good and some bad. The good ones had me and Chris together in a future, just like a fairytale whereas the bad thoughts were build of my fear. Fear of losing Chris. I kissed Chris on his lips slightly to wake him up.
He woke up, grinning at me and said, "We could get used to this."
"I love you. Heavy words in the morning but figured that they won't hurt." I got up and pulled my hair into a bun.
"I love you too. I'll cook something for you."
"You just stole my thoughts. I can never get tired of your pancakes and waffles."
He glanced at the table clock. "We still have a lot of time before school. Maybe I can even teach you how to make 'em."
"I'd love that. School reminds me, I have a test tomorrow." A bit my lip. "But no worries, I'll pass somehow."
"I'll help you with it. Come on now."
When you have a damn-gorgeous man standing in front of you, you just can't concentrate on whether to add sugar or butter or both. I looked up at him as I pouring the batter as he had instructed, His eyes, god, his eyes were so deep and so expressive. He looked at me with a smile first that turned into a frown and then an alarmed expression soon after.
"Stop checking me out! The whole batter's on the pan! You do not do that!" He yelled and tried to pick some of it and scooping it back in the bowl.
"I was not checking you out," I said nervously as Chris fixed up my mistake.
"Oh, don't you even try to deny." He smiled slightly and cupped my cheek. "Till it turns brown, I think we should keep ourselves engaged."
"Great idea." I stood up on my toes and kissed him. "God, you are so handsome."
"You are infatuated, aren't you?" He flipped the pancake and kissed me again.
"Ew!" Claire exclaimed as she entered. "Is that my breakfast that you're making while making out over it?"
"Uh, Claire I'm sorry for..........backstabbing you and Chris," I muttered, I wished she couldn't here me and treat me invisible rather than leveling her gaze with me but she did not.
"Yeah, well we can't do anything about it since you are his mate and are stuck to him forever, aren't you," she huffed angrily. I was almost about to cry. Not only did I almost lost my mate, both literally and figuratively, but also a friend. Maybe even best friend. Just as I was about to break down, she came up to me and said, "I was kidding. Come here." She hugged me. "This was unavoidable, with you or without you; they would have tried to kill Chris. But please do not pull a stunt like that again."
"Never." I looked up at Chris. "Oh, did I mention my ex-who-killed-my-other-ex is back in town?"
"What did she just say?" Claire asked Chris with a confused look.
"Why don't you girls gossip a bit as serve you hot pancakes?" Chris suggested.
"Sounds like a deal."
We sat down at the table and sipped our coffee as I told her the whole thing. There are no secrets in a family, that's what I think atleast. I told her all of it, didn't miss a detail. The first step to salvation is acceptance after all. My mistake: to get out at midnight and narrate my sad story to a frigging SOB, who probably didn't give a sh*t about my feelings that time, which ten minutes later, proved to be true. And befriending a guy like Ryan.
