The ship rocks slowly back and forth, the blackness on my skin is spreading. I still haven't told Maui its getting worse, I don't want to worry him. Besides if he asks to see the scar now? I would have to remove my shirt for that...
There is a beautiful full moon above us and the sky is awake with thousands of stars. I sit quietly on one of the boards connecting our boat to its stabilizer. Dangling my feet in the water, enjoying the atmosphere. If no ones life were in danger this would probably be pretty romantic, but I am inconveniently dying at the moment so-
A cough works it's way up my throat, I cough into my hand. I look at my hand to see a redness of blood. I'm coughing up blood now? Wow can I put any emotion into my thoughts? Tamatara was right. The boat jerks to a stop and I look up, we are on the edge of Maui's island.
"What's going on?" I ask him.
"Inside," he orders as he heads toward his cave. I follow in confusion, I thought we were looking for the kakamora?  By the time I'm inside he's already got a fire in his stove, it's hard to imagine how this cave was so Barron when we first met.
"What's wrong?" I ask, he looks at me and scratches the back of his neck, a hint of blush on his face.
"I uh, wanna take a look at you, your scar I mean."
"My scar?" What? "I-" I'm cut off with a serge of pain in my chest, I watch in horror as my scar snakes along my veins, out from under my clothes. I gasp and fall against the wall of the cave, without missing a beat Maui scoops me up in his arms and carries me over to the hammock. The wave of pain finishes and I look at myself, the scar now goes up my neck and down my shoulders. Very slowly Maui slides his hands behinds my neck, untying the cloth. His eyes lock with mine, as if looking for any sign to stop. I nod slowly before looking away, my heart rate is still beating hard. I feel the cloth fall from my torso, it's only barely covering me now. the air hitting my skin raises all my hairs.
I look away as he falls silent, the blackness is bigger than the paddle of my oar now, I feel like a freak-
"Lookin gorgeous, Princess."
I look at him, his cocky smile shining in all it's glory. I wrap the cloth around me and tie it again.
"Come on, let's catch some sleep and we'll get your heart back," I nod and move over so he can lay down with me in the huge hammock.
"Your going to be ok, got that Moana?"
"Yep," I say, but the smile seems more forced than usual. Like I actually had to put effort into it. I close my eyes and lay on his chest, feeling his chest rise and fall with every soft breath he took. He put one arm behind his head and the other over my waist. I open my eyes softly, not even feeling the slightest bit tired. I slowly trace my fingertips gently over Maui's tattoos, he let out a low hum from his already sleeping form. Feeling more bored by the second I'm doing nothing. I quietly and gently slide off of him, him being the heavy sleeper he is only shifts around a little. I exit the cave out under the stars, I walk along the beach. I find myself at the back of the island,  it's been growing more trees since Te Fiti got her heart back. I lean against the top of the large rock and look up at the stars, humming Maui's song. Lost in thought, we need to get my heart back.
