Sweetest Dreams

Chapter Seven

       

I hear footsteps running down the hallway towards my room and stop screaming but I don't move as shock sets in.

"Princess," I feel someone touching my shoulder and a female voice talking to me. "Princess, what's wrong?"

I drop down to my knees and start crying loudly with head in my hands. I hear someone talking trying to talk me and find out what happened. After a minute I calm down enough to talk.

"In front of the... lounge a... dead rabbit," I manage to say between sobs.

I see the person stand up and move towards the rabbit, when they spot the rabbit they quickly move back to my side and help me stand up. When they finally help me stand they quickly lead me out of the room and I follow without and hassle then I remember Theo and come to a stop.

"Princess, come on we must go down and alert the Guardians," the person tells me and gives me a gentle tug.

"I'm not leaving my kitten behind. I have to go back and get him," I say trying to tug my arm out of her hand.

"I'll go back and grab him for you. Just wait here and I'll be right back," She says and drops my arm before running back to the room.

I stand there waiting for her to come back with Theo after a couple of minutes she comes down the hall with Theo in her arms. I quickly grab Theo off him and squeeze him to my chest.

"Princess, we must go now," she says grabbing my arm, pulling me after her and I realise that it is Tessa.

He leads me down the stairs to the Council chambers and knocks on the doors using the lion shaped knocker. I stand there clutch on to Theo like he is a lifeline and that if I let go of him I will lose my sanity. King Ian answer the door and looks at Tessa with a questioning look before looking at me standing behind her, he sees the scared look on face and quickly reaches out, pulls me into the room and sits me in the closet chair.

"Kayla, what's wrong?" Ian asks me in a gentle and soothing voice.

"I-I...," I shake my head, start choking back sobs and bury my head in Theo's fur.

"What happened?" Ian demands looking over my shoulder.

"There was a dead rabbit in her suite," Tessa explains in a grave voice.

Ian reaches into his pocket pulls out a cell phone and enters a three digit code after a couple of seconds he says. "Pulsera del encanto." Then hangs up.

"Kayla I need you to come with me," he says and puts his hand out in front of him for me to grab. "It's okay, I know that you don't want to but you have to tell us what happened," Ian says, seeing the look on my face grow even more frightened.

I can do this, I tell myself and then I nod and reach out and grab Ian's hand, I then realise that I still have Theo in my hands. "What can I do with Theo?" I ask not wanting to take Theo back up to my room. "I cannot and will not take him back in that room," I explain when Ian gives me a quizzical look.

"Tessa, take Theo and find Josh. Tell Josh to put him in his house and then tell him that I want him in Kayla's suite, he should be in his Uncle's house, it is the second house on the right of this building," Ian says in a worried and demanding voice.

"Yes, Sir," she says and nods at him before grabbing Theo off of me and rushing off to find Josh.

"Kayla, if you'll follow me there are Guardians waiting for us," he says, turns around and hurries off towards the stairs that lead to my room.

"What does pulsera del encanto mean?" I ask after I catch up with Ian.

"It means Charm bracelet. It is the code name assigned to you it means that if that code is used that something has happened to you and guardians are to respond immediately, it is also the name of the suite you are in," he explains as he rushes into my room.
