"What happened? Why do I smell meat?" I ask looking around in a panic. I see Ian sitting in the bed with a couple of chicken leg bones lying on the bed around him.
I look around and see that there is two guardians standing near the door.
"What happened in here?" I ask in a deadly, dangerous voice advancing on the guardians with a look of pure rage on my face.
"He was craving chicken meat. I gave him some," says the guardian on the right side of the door.
"What's your name, Guardian?" I ask still in a deadly and dangerous voice.
"Jack," says the same guardian, "And this is Alex."
"Are you two stupid?" I ask, going into full rant mode, not even giving them a chance to answer. "He can't have meat. He was injected with werewolf venom causing a severe infection. That I had to use Wolf's bane to slow down. You may have just jeopardised that by feed him the meat. Every Guardian who was to be on duty for the king was supposed to be told about this. I'm relieving you, I want you both to go find Guardian Claire Roberts and Guardian Justin Serratos and send them both up here. I then want you to find Head Guardian Black and send him up here to me. You will come with him and you will tell him what a major blunder you made."
They both nod and exit the room. "Kayla, that was a bit harsh," Steven says looking slightly shocked by my outburst.
"Steven, they endangered the king. I made sure that everyone who had guardian duty for Ian was informed," I tell him marching out of the room in search of the book on werewolf venom infections. "I've found out one of my best friends and my ex-boyfriend are Hunters, had Hunters kidnap me, had the same ex-boyfriend approach me after he aided in the kidnap and found a dead rabbit in my room. I'm sorry if I'm a little off lately."
"Princess, I learned that there was a last minute schedule change for the guardians guarding King Ian. I found out when while we were at you dress fitting," Matt says seeing me walk out of the room. "What happened?" He asks on seeing the look on my face.
"They gave him meat," I say bluntly. "Matt, where is the book on werewolf venom infections. I need it now."
Matt grabs it off the table in the dining room area and quickly passes it to me. I flop down on the lounge and get to work trying to see what information I can find on the effects the meat will have on him. I have just found the information I need when Zach comes in looking grim.
"I heard what happened," Zach says, quietly with a deadly calm.
"Well, I may have found some way to help a little bit but the chance that it will is miniscule," I say grimly.
"Well, I'd still like to see them on toilet cleaning duty for the rest of the year," Zach says, before we head back to Ian's room followed by Matt and Steven.
When I enter the room to find Ian curled up on the bed, groaning in pain. Zach and I quickly race over and slowly coax him to lay flat on the bed on his back. We manage to coax him to have some vegetable soup and he seems to feel better after that. Once he has eaten I send everyone else out of the room. When Matt pulls the door behind himself, I carefully place one hand on Ian's chest and the other on his shoulder where he was bitten and concentrate on sending all my powers into healing Ian. I feel a tugging in my chest and a feeling of euphoria slowly spreads from the same place as the tugging. When it is done I slowly make my way out of the room to where Steven, Matt and Zach are waiting for me, feeling slightly drained. I make my way over to one of the couches in front of the TV.
"I did the strongest healing spell I could manage but I don't know how or even if it will work," I tell them, closing my eyes and leaning my head back to stop the room from spinning.
Zach is just about to reply when I hear the door open and I open my eyes to the rest of the royals come in closely followed by Josh and my parents. Josh makes his way over to sit next to me.
"What's going on? We got a message from Guardian Black to come up here that something had happened," Prince Joseph asks.
"A pair of Guardians feed Ian meat," I tell them, after sitting up carefully so as not to set the room spinning again. "I managed to do a healing spell and make it as strong as I possibly could but I could be out for the next day."
"Well, let's get you to bed," Josh says, carefully helping me to stand.
"Night everyone," I say as Josh leads me to our room.
I sit on the bed while Josh gathers me some pyjama shorts and one of his shirts from the closet. I indicate that he should turn around and once he has I put the clothes on and climb into bed. I say his name and he turns around to see me in bed.
"I need to go back out here but I'll be back soon," he says, giving me a peck on the cheek before heading out the door.
I'm asleep before he even shuts the door.
