Several hours later Matt and I have gone through nearly every book and have seen no reference to werewolves. I open the last book to start reading a couple of pages into the book, I see what I have been looking.
"Matt, I found something," I tell him quickly.
He quickly rushes around the table so that he is standing behind me and I point to the passage. "This is what I need," I tell him with a small sigh of relief.
"A succubi or an incubi cannot be cured of an infection from a werewolf venom but the infection can be stopped for a period of time by having the incubi or succubi ingest wolf's bane extract that is carefully extracted by a succubi or incubi who has a strong specialization in healing," Matt quotes from the book.
"Where can we get the wolf's bane?" I ask Matt, hoping this isn't a dead end lead.
"Um, I probably shouldn't tell you this but there is a vault that holds things like wolf's bane flowers in special containers, I think there is even a couple of vials of wolf's bane extract," Matt tells me. "It's an emergency so I can take you there to get them and do the extract but only the extract can leave the vault and no one can know where you got it from."
"Okay," I tell him. "We need to get started now."
Matt indicates for me to follow him, I grab the book making sure to keep the page, and leads me over to the bookshelf at the back of the right room and pulls a book off the shelf and it swings open to reveal a large door with a keypad. Matt carefully enters the pin and leads me into the room when the door buzzes to let us in. When we enter I look around and see shelves full of different containers.
"Each container is labelled and everything is alphabetically order," Matt says heading to the back of the room. "Here, I've got it."
I quickly race over to where he is standing in front of a shelf. "Only you can grab it," He tells me pointing to one of the containers on the shelves.
I quickly grab the container and take it over to the table, where I sat the book. I quickly look at the book and check that I have everything. "It says that I have to give it to him in a bowl of soup without meat and spices. It also says that the wolf's bane extract will only hold the infection off for one month and that he can only have one dose ever," I tell Matt who has come over to stand behind me. "It says I have to direct some of my healing powers into it to make sure that it heals him. Wolf's bane extract can kill a human but if it has healing powers in it from a succubi or incubi with a strong specialization in healing it can reverse the poison and make it a healer. However it will still kill the person if they have more than two drops in their life." I explain to Matt.
"We should get back and do what we have to do," Matt says quietly.
"I have to infuse with my healing powers first," I tell him.
I sit in the chair at the table and carefully pick up one of the vials and let it rest in my hands cupping it. I concentrate on my healing powers and thinking about nothing but sending my healing powers into extract. It takes me ten minutes of trying before I feel the essence of my healing power move from me to the extract.
"Okay, we can go," I tell Matt. "Can you carry the book?"
He grabs the book and leads me out of the vault making sure to put the bookshelf and slides the book back into place. I walk over to the library door making sure not to drop the vial. We quickly make our way back to the room where everyone is being guarded. When we enter I'm bombarded with question about what I found. Matt silences everyone and gives me a nod to tell them.
"Okay, I didn't tell you this before because I didn't want to give anyone false hope but Ian was injected with werewolf venom," I tell them. "There isn't any way to cure werewolf venom in one of our people but there is a way to slow the infection down."
"What do we have to do?" Zach asks.
"I have the way to slow it down here," I say, showing everyone the vial in my hand. "He can only have two drops of this in a bowl of vegetable stew."
"How long will this give him?" Joseph asks.
"A month but in that time he can't eat any meat at all," I tell them what the book says.
"That's not long at all," says Maria sounding worried.
"I know it isn't but it's all I can give him," I tell them. "It is long enough for him to name his successor and tie up any lose ends that he may have."
"Princess," Matt says, calling my attention to him. "We need to give him the Wolf's bane as soon as we can," He tells me when I look at him.
"Okay," I say with a quick nod. "I need a bowl of vegetable soup."
He quickly goes and retrieves a bowl of the soup from in the kitchen. He brings it out to me with a spoon. I carefully measure out dropper full of the wolf's bane into the bowl before carefully stirring it into the soup. I carefully take it into Ian and make sure to shut the door behind Matt after he follows me.
"Did you find anything?" Ian asks careful not to sound hopeful.
"I found a way to slow the infection down but it won't cure it," I tell him not wanting to get his hopes up.
"How long?"
"A month," I tell him sad to have to deliver the news to him. "It's enough time for you to announce your successor and put things in order."
"Thank you, Kayla," Ian says as I hand him the bowl of soup. "I already know who I am naming my successor. I'll announce it next week after your bond ceremony. Which will be happening."
"You need to eat the soup up now," I tell him.
He quickly starts eating the soup and I take a seat in the chair beside the bed. I carefully watch to make sure that he eats all the soup and once his done I put the bowl on the bedside table. I sit there quietly to make sure that there aren't any side effects and after a couple of minutes he goes to sleeping snoring lightly.
I carefully exit the room and see that everyone else has turned in for the night. I see that Josh is in the room closet to Ian's room and carefully make my way into the room. When I get in the room I see that Josh is sitting up, waiting for me.
"Is he okay?" Josh asks quietly.
I nod as I grab my pyjamas and go into the bathroom to get changed. As I come out I feel like I should explain. "He's fine. He's sleeping now but I'm going to need to keep an eye on him."
Josh nods. "What about our bond ceremony next week?" He asks cautiously.
"It's still going ahead and Ian said he'll announce his successor after the ceremony," I tell Josh as I climb into bed.
"I love you," Josh says in a voice that leaves no room for argument.
"I love you, too," I say before leaning over and giving a kiss. "I really need some sleep."
Josh lays down in the bed and pulls me over sothat my head is on his shoulder. I quickly fall asleep laying like that.
