"Sirena!" My arch enemy gives me the biggest and most artificial smile ever.

"Devlin! It's so good to see you," I lie and we give each other air kisses. She looks tacky as ever in a tiny golden dress that's way to dressy for a bonfire at the beach. Her thin brown hair is longer than her dress.

Devlin Hartford is the biggest bitch ever. No exaggeration. Or maybe her mother is. It's probably a tie. Her mother is an actress named Chelsea Hartford AKA my mother's biggest rival. It's actually kind of poetic. Our moms are rivals and so are we.

Devlin stares at me with her judgy, beady little eyes.

"Say, where's Nate?" She asks, batting her fake eyelashes.

"We broke up," I say. Where is Lucia when I need her?

"Oh, right! I heard about that. What is that, your fifth breakup this year?" She asks with fake sympathy.

"I don't know. Maybe." I roll my eyes.

"Don't worry, darling. A little plastic surgery can solve all your problems. Well, the physical ones." She suggests.

"Good idea! Why don't you give me your plastic surgeon's number? They've clearly done an excellent job. Your face almost looks real." I sneer.

"You fugly little slut. No wonder all your boyfriends leave you." She flips her hair and walks away.

"Out of my way, loser." She pushes a guy standing near the gigantic bonfire and warms her hands.

You brought this upon yourself, Devlin.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I open my eyes and suddenly, the tips of her hideous hair are on fire.

"AAAAAAH!" The fire spreads halfway through her hair and I decide that it's enough. I direct the water from the sea to her hair and it puts the fire out. "WHAT THE HELL?" She yells and runs away. Oops.

"I cannot believe you just did that." I turn around to see Mason Sorrento glaring at me.

"Did what?" I put my hands on my hips.

"You set that girl's hair on fire." He looks shocked.

"Believe me, she deserved it." I roll my eyes.

"That's... That's just cruel. You have these incredible powers and you use them for evil," He narrows his eyes at me.

"Oh no. Don't you dare judge me. I don't use my powers for 'evil'," I make air quotes while saying evil. "I don't use my powers to hurt people. Devlin is different and I'd never actually hurt her. I stopped it before it went to far,"

"You could have killed her."

"I told you, Sorrento. I wouldn't have let it go so far. Relax." I roll my eyes.

"Alright, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt." He says. We walk to a corner where we get a little more privacy.

"So tell me about how you know so much. Must humans just freak out and run away when they hear about anything supernatural," I try to extract information out of him.

"I guess I'm not like most humans," He winks.

"Guess you're not, Sorrento." I smirk.

"Why do you call me by my last name?" He asks.

"It's a nice last name. It reminds me of a little town in Italy that I fell in love with a long time ago." I admit.

"That's where Lola was born." He smiles at his feet.
