Chapter one - pretty

"Right now the ocean is blacker than black, the sky is too."

Tyler honestly never thought his life would end this way when he was younger, but, as he looks over the edge of the bridge and sees his feet swaying back and forth above a seemingly endless drop into black, icy waters, he realises it was almost destiny for it to end this way.

He lets out a heavy sigh, watching his breathe pour out in front of him and disappear. He tightens his grip on the railings he's until his blush red knuckles turn white. The air nips as his skin, making goosebumps form along bare arms filled with nothing but mucky yellow and purple bruises that almost match his black eye. Signs he's still alive, it almost makes him smile realising the "signs" won't be there much longer.

The iron grip he has on the railing loosens, almost subconsciously so, and he prepares himself for the ending he's been waiting for, only for a smothered gasp to be heard behind him that sends chills up Tyler's spine and halts his movements.

To his right, a boy, one with a too skinny frame and faded pink hair, climbs up next to him; it seems to take a lot of his strength to do so and a Tyler almost feels sorry for this person who so obviously needs help of some form.

"It's a pretty night out here don't you think?" The man begins, gazing up at the sky with wide, wonder filled eyes that don't match his sickly pale complexion. When Tyler follows the strangers gaze all he see's is darkness, no moonlight, not even a star, lights up the vast nothingness of the area - how can that be "pretty"?

"No." Comes the blunt reply from a voice too hoarse from crying and screaming.

"Me neither." The pink-haired man states, looking toward Tyler with lifeless eyes. It takes a moment for Tyler to understand why this stranger would ask him such a pointless and almost saddening question, but he then realises why, and realises it worked temporarily as Tyler hasn't jumped... yet.
