Chapter 3

It had become a sort of tradition, ditching school, or meeting Liam at the treaty line on weekends.

I'd begun to believe I was addicted, he wasn't like the guys on the reservation, he just had a little something extra that made me want to stick around. I didn't know what is do without him, but some had started to suspect things. Especially my mom and my group of 'friends' on the Rez.

My mother was very observant, and my 'friends' on the Rez were pretty much assigned body guards. Jonah being one of those, don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy, but I want friends who aren't forced to like me. That being said, I avoid him at all costs.

Today being Saturday, I was due to sneak to the treaty line. I woke up extra early and changed in a tank top and shorts, pulling my dark red hair into a pony tail. I was very careful opening my bedroom door, making sure the slightest squeak didn't leave it I crept over the hardwood floor silently over to the living room and grabbed my boots.

Just as I went for the door knob, someone called out to me,"Alyssa..."

I turned to face my mother, her hair was it messy curls and she wore a short night dress with a silk robe.

"Where are you going?" She asked without a hint of curiosity in her voice.

"T-To meet Jonah and the twins." I said carefully, she crossed her arms,"They're running with the pack... Today's is their patrol day, you know that."

I nearly cursed out loud for forgetting that, "Ah..."

I was so caught, she closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose.

"What am I going to do with you..." She looked back up and dropped her hand back to her side.

"Just go, and be back by dinner."

She whispered it so faintly, I hardly heard it, but a smile lit up my face,"Thanks mom."

I whispered back, turning to leave, "Don't think I don't know where your going."

She added,"That boy is dangerous... Whether he knows it or not."

I scrunched my eyebrows together, but took my chance to leave.

*******

"Why does everyone treat you like the plague?" I asked carefully, stroking the grass on either side of me.

Liam huffed and pulled himself up into a sitting position next to me.

"People don't like things that are different... I'm one of those things."

He said clearly, twirling a flower in his hand before giving it to me. His beautiful golden eyes held a hint of sadness.

I took his hand,"I was always taught that being different was good."

My eyes flickered up to meet his, he sighed,"It's not always a good thing... For you maybe, you aren't a monster."

Suddenly I found myself pinned beneath him, my wrists held lightly in his hands, his face inches from mine.

I pushed my face closer to him,"Your no monster... I know that for a fact."

My voice was sure, his face fell,"Maybe not now..."

He looked up at the sun setting sky, a foreboding look crossing his face.

I pulled one of my wrists loose and cupped one side of his face,"You could never be a monster to me."

I attempted to assure him, lightly laying my lips on his and attempting to take away his sadness. He tasted sweet like honey, with a hint of cinnamon, the kiss heated up my entire body and sped up my heart. I'd never felt anything like it in my entire life, one of his hands had drifted up my back and now held me against him, suddenly he pulled away.

A growl left his lips, his eyes were literally glowing yellow. My own eyes flickered around, looking for danger, somehow night had fallen and its was now pitch dark.

I clung to him,"Liam..."

He stood, picking me up with him,"Some one is watching us... I heard them breathing."

I looked around, only catching a brief flash of blue before it was gone.

I sighed,"I think they're gone."

He nodded,"I can't hear them now."

He jogged in silence for a while before I found the courage to ask,"What are you exactly?"

He stiffened, faltering in his steps for a moment,"Does it matter?"

I shook my head,"Not really... I'm curious though."

He huffed,"Maybe I'll tell you another time." He sat me down, we were at the treaty line.

I smiled,"Promise?"

He rolled his eyes and looked at me strangely,"I promise."

He said clearly, taking my face in his large hands and kissing me quickly, a smirk lit up his face as he jogged off. I sighed and turned to walk home, the trees were glowing orange, tonight there was a tribe meeting.

So I wouldn't be going home, I had to attend for whatever reason. As I spotted the circle of people and logs, I sought out a seat, only finding one beside the twins. The nearly identical pair glanced up at me, they both had inherited the light green eyes from Kim, and weren't as tan as the other wolves.

They're hair was the only way to tell them apart, Dustin has straight burgundy hair where as Drake has dark brown hair. I sat between them, noticing that, for the first time in a while, the Cullens had joined us.

The cold ones never ceased to amaze me, their eyes were a less dramatic version of Liam's eyes.
Dr.Cullen always came over to do check ups on every one, his wife in tow baring sandwiches of gifts she loved to bring to us. A smile always lit up her motherly face, she reminded me a lot of my own mom.

The girls Rosalie, Alice, Tanya, and Renesmee were around less. Nessie sometimes came to see Jake, but was less fond of him now that he'd married Leah and had children. The hybrid herself didn't have a boyfriend, never had one that I knew of. She was a bit of a loner, not my type to hang around thanks to her suspiciously sweet attitude. I knew we were related, she was my half aunt, but we never spoke of it.

She spoke to my mom quite often, they got along well, besides a bit of spite that came with not being their mother's favorite.

The twins were fighting over a huge s'more, trying to smash it on each other. Dustin eventually swiped it and ate it, Drake shoved him over before popping right back up in his seat and leaning toward Jonah.

"Dude! You ever thought about how hot the vamp chick is?"

Jonah gained a strange look, then became disgusted,"Dude... Are you a fang-banger?"

I went stiff, as did every vampire there, hisses flying around. Before anyone could blink or react, I'd slapped Jonah hard enough to toss him off the log. He was up in a second, shaking and snarling. I knew what was coming went the shivers turned to tremors. I was to close, everyone knew that, he shifted. His deadly claws came at me at an unrealistic speed, right at my face.

I didn't have time to duck or move, I clenched my eyes shut and waited for the impact... It never came, my eyes flickered up to see what had happened, horror took over me as I saw what had stopped the deadly strike.
