This was it.
Blake was ending things with Sophia.
They've been messing around for two years now, maybe more, and he was done.
How much longer could he play this damn game with her?
He was literally her booty call and that wasn't cool. Sure, from time to time Sophia showed some hint of actual friendship with him, but he literally heard from her whenever she wanted to meet up. This whole thing was always in her terms and every time he even tried to make it his terms, it never happened. A few times they've argued whenever Blake brought up bringing it to the next level or at times it was either met with silence or she avoided it all together.
And he's had enough.
"What time is your sister going to get here?" Blake questioned as he and Alena watched SportsCenter.
"Um, her flight got in a couple of hours ago so she's most likely settling in her apartment." Alena replied as she scrolled through her Twitter feed. "You okay?"
"Your sister literally avoids me like the plague for six weeks and now, she messages me cause she's back in town?" Blake complained. "Why does your sister go to Germany so often? I thought she hasn't taken over yet?"
Alena didn't know how to tell Blake that Sophia was planning her wedding to Elijah. Sophia had promised her that she would tell Blake and Alena chose to believe that. She was certain Sophia would say something to Blake, but her sister was just a bit slow with these types of things. Though, she really hated how Sophia placed her in a tough position. Her heart still ached, seeing Blake and Sophia together, but after two years, things were getting slightly better. Just seeing the happiness on her sister's face and sometimes on Blake's face eased some of the pain. But at times like this, her heart ached for Blake because he was being played. Sophia would never leave Elijah or disobey their father.
"She's being groomed to takeover, so she has to be there much more often." Alena chose this explanation since it was partly true.
"I'm glad you're not the one stuck with that bullshit." Blake gave her a small smile. "Cause you know, where would my life be without you?"
It was moments like this that Alena hated Blake. Whenever he proclaimed how he would be lost without her, and how much he needed her. It was an amazing thing to hear, but it was painful if you were in love with the person.
"In shambles?" Alena managed to smile. She playfully elbowed his side, though she would have done it a bit harder if he wouldn't question it. "I'm sure you'd be fine."
"No, I wouldn't, I would be all over the place. Don't be modest, I know your ego is loving this."
Alena genuinely laughed. "My ego does, but you know, I can't take all the credit. You've grown up from college, Austin."
"Yeah, I have, we both have." Blake intertwined their fingers and gave her hand a soft squeeze. "Thank you, Lena."
"Any time," she returned the gesture.
