"Alena, Mr. Griffin is here with your father again." Patricia knew she shouldn't have even informed Alena, but her father, Andrew insisted that she did.

"You're joking, right?" Alena wasn't even sure what was going on, but Blake has been pestering her for the past two weeks. He didn't bother her for months and out of nowhere he started showing up her office every day. And the thing that baffled her was, half the time he wasn't there to see her, but her father. What the hell did her father and Blake even have to talk about? It was absolutely insane and she didn't know how to respond to it half the time.

"No, I'm afraid not, though, your sister is here as well."

"Day just keeps getting better and better." Alena was having a hard time closing the deal with the Chinese investors since some of them were not convinced on the new condominium they were going to build in the heart of Century City, CA. They didn't have a problem with Alena, but due to the unstable political climate of the United States, they were not sure if they wanted to make an investment on a project that they may not benefit from. "As long as they don't bother me, I honestly don't care what they're doing here."

"If it makes you feel better, it's lunch time, we can go to Amelia's café?" Amelia was a friend of Alena's who owned an amazing coffee shop fifteen minutes away from her office. As much as she wanted to see Amelia and just forget about her responsibilities, she had to close the deal today and the last thing she wanted to do was leave the office when such a big project was in jeopardy.

"Do you mind picking up lunch? I really want to get this proposal done and I feel like I'm making some stride."

"Chipotle?"

"Lifesaver you are."

Patricia laughed and waved Alena goodbye before grabbing her stuff and making her way out of the office. With Patricia gone, Alena focused her attention on the task before her. She had to find a way to reassure her investors that regardless of the political climate, their investments would be safe and they would see a return in them.

"I knew I made the right decision to have you come back." She heard Elijah say to her as she walked in her office.

"Do you have no manners?" It was their thing to give the other shit, main reason why everything was running so well. Alena and Elijah were always better business partners and friends than anything else.

"I do, I knocked, but you didn't say anything, wanted to make sure you're alive." Elijah shrugged, making himself comfortable on the seat in front of her. "You feel like a conspiracy is going on?"

"What?" Alena didn't want to entertain Elijah right now. She had a deadline and he was being a bother.

"You don't find it weird that the three people you're not speaking to are all hanging out all of a sudden?" Elijah pointed out with an amused smirk on his lips.

"No? They're none of my concern?" Alena was curious as to what brought this new alliance about, but she was not going to question it. Again, it was the least of her concern, well, she was trying to make it the least of her concern.

"Okay," Elijah chuckled. "So, how's the proposal going?"

"Awful?" Alena groaned. "I understand their concerns, but their investments will be reimbursed."
