Sophia unlocked her apartment, closing the door behind her and locking it. With a sigh, she placed her keys by the door as she always did and walked further inside her apartment.

It was around seven in the morning which was the usual time she got back to her apartment in Santa Monica, a fifteen minute drive from Blake's home in Palisades.

"You're home early," she heard a voice beside her.

Looking over, she wasn't startled because she expected to find him here.

Sitting by the island counter in her kitchen was her fiancé, Elijah.

A sigh escaped her lips as she placed her purse on the counter. Sitting beside Elijah, she took the coffee mug in his hand and took a sip. Her face scrunched, a small smile appearing on Elijah's face as she placed his cup back down.

"I don't know how you can drink that without any creamer or sugar." Sophia stuck her tongue out, as if the action would help her rid of the taste of the coffee.

"The point of coffee is to wake you up in the morning and the bitterness definitely helps kick you awake." Elijah replied, before he took a sip and placed his cup back down. "Have you told him?"

"No," Sophia had this conversation with Elijah every time she came home after spending a night with Blake.

"Soph, you can't keep hiding this from him." Elijah grimaced.

"And I will," Sophia insisted.

"Will you continue seeing him once we're married?"

The conundrum Sophia found herself in was something television shows were made of. Elijah Sommer was devoted to her and he turned a blind eye in regards to her relationship with Blake. Every time she slept with Blake, it was indescribably amazing, but then the realization that Elijah was waiting for her apartment always sunk her heart at the pit of her stomach.

Elijah and Sophia first met when they were children. Sophia was five years old and Elijah was ten years old. Their relationship has always been tight knit, to the point that Elijah stayed in California for college instead of moving back to Germany where his family was based. He was to be groomed as the next president of his family's company. At an early age, Elijah had always adored Sophia and this became much more apparent when they became older.

The prospect of marrying outside of the elite class was always a possibility, however, Sophia's family had hit a snag. To strengthen their business partnership, their fathers had suggested for Alena and Elijah to get married. However, Elijah strongly opposed of this and Alena decided to never come back to Germany and stayed in Oklahoma. Due to her refusal to marry Elijah, her father disowned her, calling her an ungrateful and selfish child. She was cut off, but it didn't faze her. Alena had always been the independent one between the two sisters and it was always apparent that Alena was the one who was going to be able to be something between the two. But she still struggled and that's where Elijah and Blake stepped in. With the help of Elijah, Alena was able to stay afloat before Blake had given her the job she currently had.

And for Elijah's part of the whole ordeal, he wanted to marry Sophia and that's he initially refused the engagement. He knew with Alena being disowned, Sophia would have to take her sister's place. It was selfish, he could admit that, but he was always in love with Sophia. Sure, he made a few mistakes while he was young, but he just didn't think that he would lose Sophia's love in the process.
