Viktor recognized that uncertain voice immediately. His heart fluttered. It belonged to no other than Yuuri Katsuki, the one who he had bumped into that morning...literally. He bounced over to where the voice lay. Once he got closer, he heard another voice intertwined with Yuuri's. Phichit? He assumed, but shrugged the thought away.

"Welcome to a Friend Until the End Pet Shelter!" the Russian greeted.

"Thanks", Phichit replied. When Yuuri stayed silent for a bit, the friend waved Yuuri's hand for him.

"It looks like someone's a little nervous", commented Viktor, glancing at Yuuri worriedly.

"Um, well everyone's a little nervous w-when they want to... apply-- VOLUNTEER!" Phichit blurted out.

"What?" Viktor heard Yuuri whisper-yell to the flustered friend.

"-Oi!" said Yurio, breaking the awkward silence, pointing to the two visitors disdainfully. "Who are those two a-?"

Otabek turned to the boy, putting a finger on Yurio's lips to hush him, his creamy brown eyes sparkling with interest at the newcomers. "Don't be rude to our guests", he gently rebuked.

Viktor smiled at Otabek, his eyes glittering with gratitude. "So, I'm assuming you've read the flyer?"

"Y-Yeah!" piped up Yuuri. Viktor simply nodded and ran over to the back room. When he came back, he held a few forums in his hands. He handed one to Yuuri and then turned to Phichit, holding the forum out in front of him in a questioning manner.

Phichit happily took the paper. "What kind of friend would I be if I left Yuuri to fend for himself?"

Then, a blood-chilling gag filled the room. Viktor whipped around to see a hunched over Makkachin; making various wheezing sputtering sounds. Makkachin, no! He thought, gawking and frozen in fear as the others did.

As if instinct, Yuuri threw the forum out of his hands and sprinted over to the choking dog. He put his hands around Makkachin's belly, conjoining them together. Then, he formed a tight fist with his hands. Maneuvering them behind the dog's ribcage, he pushed forward and then up repeatedly. After, the boy gently placed the shocked dog on its side. Moments later, Makkachin coughed up the lodged item. It was a tennis ball, used as a substitute for a dog toy. Yuuri sighed of relief and turned to the dumbstruck group.

"...Wow", was all Yurio could manage. Viktor let out a late gasp and bent down to pet his dog's head, comforting the poor thing. Yuuri is... amazing! He thought, grinning widely.

Phichit patted his friend on the back. "Good thinking, I never would've thought of using the Heimlich maneuver THAT quickly!" Otabek nodded at the Thai man's comment, agreeing.

Viktor walked over to Yuuri and put his arm around him. Yuuri looked to the floor response, his face a light pink. "I don't even know where to begin! You. Were. Absolutely. Amazing!" exclaimed the grateful Russian.

Yuuri, his eyes still locked to the ground, formed a small smile on his face. "I did what anyone would" he peeped.

"You know... it would be a blessing to have you volunteer here. You're certainly worthy"

Yuuri looked up, nodding rapidly. "Yes! But only if Phichit gets to join too"

Viktor turned the see the others' reactions. Phichit's eyes brightened in response, and Yurio and Otabek nodded in agreement.

"It's official then! Welcome to the team guys!"

Viktor then leaned closer to Yuuri. "I'll do anything it takes earn you", he whispered, the corners of his mouth turned up in a small smile.
