Dean's POV
I couldn't believe we were going to take a thirteen-year-old girl and her sixteen-year-old brother in to stay with us. We've never done that before, not in our whole life of hunting. And, of course, Sammy has to be the nice one and offer.
After annoying the crap outta everyone in the car, we went in to our motel room, which seemed so small for four people. We figure out the bed arrangement--me and Sam on the floor while the other two get the comforts of the beds--and we talk. Sam, already giving us away earlier, explained what we do for a living. All about the monsters, our dad, Bobby, heck, even about how our mother died.
Oh yeah, we were hunters.
And we explained what we thought killed their parents. If you look at the stab marks and the spilled blood, it could literally be anything from a grizzly bear to a demon. But if you count in the scorch marks on their eyes...well, it gave away the answer:
Angels.
Angels had killed their parents. They should be glad that they're even alive.
Not that they know how dangerous angels are. Angels get a heck of a good reputation for the vile, annoying things they are. All except for Castiel. He can be like the rest of them at times, but I believe that he is good. The angel is actually learning human slang at the moment, separating him from the rest even further.
We ended the night with some well-needed rest, for we were going to go out the next day. The only thing I really and truly regret about today was the fact that I was actually beginning to like the girl.
Emily's POV
We woke up early the next day. And not just school-early. I mean early early. Like one o'clock in the morning early. Yeah, that's right. Three hours of sleep swag. Not.
Sam had shaken me awake and almost had to carry me as we walked to his car. It fascinated me once again. "What type of car is this?"
"S'a '67 Chevy Impala," Dean called, hearing the conversation. Sam, his brother, I found out, rolled his eyes.
"He's a little obsessed," he whispered loudly behind his hand. I smiled. It was the first smile I showed since yesterday. There was no way I could be happy for any reason yesterday.
We all got in the car, Dean in the driver's sat, his brother in the passenger, and me and Michael in the back. Michael hadn't said a word since yesterday. He seemed to really want to leave this place.
We went to an old home, where Sam explained one of their friends lived. Sam and Dean got out of the car and locked the doors, ordering us to stay inside no matter what. I wonder why they think I would leave...
The thought sent shivers through my body. After they explained that they hunt creatures like ghosts and demons for a living, I had thought of them different. They had come to our house because they were on the "case" in our area.
Once they were gone, Mike spoke up. "I don't like them."
"Why? They are keeping us safe. Heck, Sam argued with his brother until he agreed to let us stay!" I pointed out.
"I don't know. I have a feeling they're...trouble."
"Like you have anywhere else to stay," I muttered.
"I actually do," he said matter-of-factly. "That's why I brought this up. One of my friends has offered to let us stay for a while. Just until we find out what orphanage we go to."
"Oh no! We are not going to an orphanage! I know we have no family left, but I would rather live with these two men for the rest of my life before I resort to an orphanage!"
He sighed. "Emy, I said yes. What am I going to do?"
"Call back and decline."
"I can't do that." He sighed. "They've already set the place up for us and bought extra food. They can't give that back."
"Well, I'm not going."
My brother sighed again. "Then I'm going to go without you."
"Mike! I can't be without you with these...strangers!"
"Then come with me," he said.
"No!"
"Then you're alone," he replied. There was a silence following.
"You know that's not going to work on me this time right?" I asked. "I've always been unsure about everything, so it worked before. But now I am absolutely certain that I don't want to go there, so I'm not going there."
He shrugged "Suit yourself."
The two brothers were back within minutes. They came back with two brown paper bags: one in Sam's hands and one in Dean's hands.
"What's that?" I asked, curious.
"It's none of your da--" Dean started.
But Sam interrupted him. "Just some stuff we need for the motel we're staying at."
I fell asleep on the way back home.
