Emily's POV
Castiel was gently nudging me awake. "Emily...Emily? Wake up..." He seemed to be gentle, even though he needed me to wake up. I can just imagine Dean shaking me awake. I'll take this, thank you very much.
"Mmm...wha?" I mumbled sleepily as I stretched and rubbed my eyes.
"We're here," Dean said. "Get your tired ass out here."
I muttered something under my breath as I got up, combing my fingers through my hair. "Where are we?"
"New motel. Location deson't matter," Dean, with his amazing green eyes and light brown, flipped-up hair, said.
"It actually kinda does," I muttered.
Sam came behind me, titling his face towards me so I could hear. "Don't get on him today; he's really wound up." His boy-bangs hung over his eyes, shadowing them, but I could see in the hazel color that they were that he was serious. No messing with Dean today.
He walked back up to his brother, making sure he doesn't go off. I stayed back, making no attempt to catch up with the two brothers. Though someone did catch up with me.
"Are you okay?" Castiel came up from behind me and asked. I gave him a look. "You seemed really tired and...sad earlier in the car," he explained.
"Oh, I'm..." Sad. Tired. Everything he just said and more. "fine. I'm fine."
He narrowed his eyes at me. I felt his magick in my head. I built the wall again, and blocked him out. His eyes narrowed even more, becoming suspicious. "You're lying."
"Nuh-uh."
"Yes you are. You wouldn't block me out unless you're lying."
"I--"
"You two!" Dean called, glaring at us. We had stopped walking to argue over if I was lying or not which, of course, I was, but I wouldn't admit that. We looked over at him. Sam was standing next to him, looking suspicious. "Yeah, you!" Dean said. "Come on!"
I could hear the emotion in his voice, though nobody else could. He seemed tired yet anxious, as if he had something to hide and was afraid of everybody else figuring it out. I narrowed my eyes, trying to see what it was.
Then I was bombarded by thoughts. Dean's thoughts.
We gotta work that case. That family is in danger. If only I could have a nap first...No! You're saving people!
His mental battle waged on, but other thoughts, ones deep inside, came at me as well. I came back to my own mind, seeing everybody staring at me. "Coming!" I said, running over to them. Dean rolled his eyes, then turned around and continued walking, followed by his brother. I saw Cas look around then shake his head as he walked towards me, serious yet a little worried.
"Did you just read his mind?" he asked in a low gravelly voice; lower than normal, trying to whisper and yet be heard at the same time.
"Yeah..." I admitted.
His eyes went relatively large. "Emily, you cannot just do that randomly. You just learned how to block them out. You shouldn't even know how to do it in the first place!"
I looked at him, but made sure to continue walking so Dean wouldn't notice. "I don't know how I did it, either, but something's up. He's doing another case secretly."
Cas sighed and looked down, then back at me. "I know. I figured out earlier today. When you told them about your parents."
"Them?" I asked.
