Revenge!

Chapter 6

ANNABETH

You wouldn't think I would be scared for the first day of school. Well...I was. I wasn't sure if that

school would be as good as last year. When I got there, it was fine. Then, a gaggle of girls came up.

The "leader" looked like she didn't know how to put on makeup. She had on neon orange lipstick,

and totally dark red blush. I remembered her. Her name was Brielle. She had a bunch of cronies,

and some of them were pretty nice, like Zara. Anyway, Brielle called me a nerd. The next day, she

was sick. I think my mom did that... Anyway, she didn't like me. "OMG THE NERD

IS BACK!" See what I mean? Right in the nick of time, Percy arrived at my side. Brielle stopped.

"Ooh! Hey, Nerd, introduce me!"

Percy scoffed, "Her name is Annabeth! Not Nerd! And I'm Percy, and I'm taken. Deal with it."

He snapped his fingers all "Persassy" like.

Brielle laughed, "Oh dearie, you won't be taken for long." She flipped her hair and sashayed away.

"Jeez, what's her problem?"

I laughed. "Me. She hates me. All because I beat her. In every single competition. Even makeup!

I calculated how much makeup to put on, and I won. She was in last place."

"Wow Annie."

I gritted my teeth. "Don't. Call. Me. Annie. Kapesh?"

"Haha okay jeez Annie!"

I shot him a look.

He put his hands up. "Fine, fine. You got me."

In class, like always, I finished my homework...in the first ten minutes. It was easy! I noticed Percy

was still on problem 1.

I walked over to the teacher. "Can I help Percy? He's stuck on a problem, and I'm done with the

homework."

She nodded her approval.

Then for the rest of the period, I helped Percy. In no time, he was done too! Brielle glared at me

accusingly. I glared back. She looked away. I guess I had just won the Glaring Contest.

At lunch, my friends and I sat at our normal table. Percy tagged along, because he only knew

me.

Brianna and Nicole glanced from me, to him, and to me again. "So... I guess you met someone over

summer break?" Nicole started.

"He's not- well I guess- but...yes, yes he is my boyfriend."

Brianna and Nicole shrieked so loud, the entire cafeteria was looking at us.

"Jeez guys, keep it down! I think the Martians heard you!"

Percy laughed. "Yeah. So you guys are Brianna and Nicole? Cool."

Then I said, "Yeah, we're boyfriend and girlfriend."

As soon as the words came out my mouth. Brielle ran to me.

"What?! Percy is way too good for you!" She turned to Percy. "Wouldn't you like a girl more like

me?" She batted her eyelashes.

"What, a girl with terrible makeup sense? No thank you."

Brielle glared at me, as if what he said was my fault. She gave me the creeps.

She sashayed away.

"She gives me the freaky-deakies!" Percy whisper-shouted.
