Chapter 10

ANNABETH

Thalia was coming any minute now! We had told Chiron and Mr.D about the Hunters, and I got some mixed opinions. Chiron was excited to see Thalia, but Mr. D locked himself in his "room." We told the campers, and I heard one mutter, "Fart arrows up my nose..." Weird child...

As I was silently thinking to myself, everyone turned the other way. Then, a certain child of Zeus tapped my shoulder.

"Aren't you going to say hi, Annie?" I turned the other way, and Thalia was smirking.

I steamed. "I'm. Not. Annie. Kapeesh?"

Thalia out her hands up in defense. "Calling you Annie is the only way to get your attention."

Then, the whole band of Hunters came in the camp. Phoebe spoke up. "Are we playing Capture the Flag, or not?"

I smiled. "Yes we are."

THALIA (oooooooh!!)

The Hunters flooded into Cabin Eight. Sara, a new recruit, said, "Have we ever lost?"

I smiled. "No, Sara. And I intend to keep it that way."

I rolled out my map of the forest. "Camp Half-Blood always keeps the flag somewhere around here," I pointed to a spot on my map. "Phoebe, Sara, and Willow, go into the forest and scout the area. Camra, Kennedy, and Erika, guard the flag, which we'll be keeping here. Lana, Erin, and Fern, distract the camp guards so Phoebe, Sara and Willow can capture the flag. Got it?" Everybody nodded. But nobody noticed the invisible girl in the background.

ANNABETH

I smiled. Thalia didn't notice me. I snuck back into Cabin Six and turned on my recorder.

"Camp Half-Blood always keeps the flag somewhere around here. Phoebe, Sara, and Willow, go into the forest and scout the area. Camra, Kennedy, and Erika, guard the flag, which we'll be keeping here. Lana, Erin, and Fern, distract the camp guards so Phoebe, Sara and Willow can capture the flag."

I turned off my demigod-safe recorder. Malcolm smirked. "You're getting good Annabeth."

After we were done planning every counter-attack, we told the rest of camp. The only thing we didn't mention, was that I eavesdropped on Thalia.

THALIA

As soon as we started the game, every plan went wrong. Nico di Angelo spawned skeletons around Phoebe, Sara, and Willow, surrounding them. Camra, Kennedy, and Erika were found knocked out in the forest. Lana, Erin, and Fern were covered in water. Great job, Percy. I didn't notice that everyone guarding the flag with me were unconscious. Then I felt myself floating higher and higher. I realized I was being levitated by the one and only, Zara.

"ZARA SKYE PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!" I screamed.

Zara shrugged. "Okay." And then I fell into the water and blacked out.

When I woke up, Camp Half-Blood was cheering. Chiron was talking to the Mr. D, who looked ecstatic, for once in his immortal life. "Wait, WE LOST?!" I screamed. The air went still. Zara came up to me. "I expect that wasn't a first great impression."

I smiled. "Yeah, you think?"
